Total Annihilation is really one of the best games I've ever played. Hell, we even play it at LAN parties (my friends an I).

Supreme Commander (the spiritual sequel to Total Annihilation) is coming in '06, and MAN I can't wait for that! It's seriously the most anticipated game for me.

If you want to try to get the nice graphics of SC (okay, maybe not quite) and the playability of TA, check out TASpring. I don't have a link for it offhand, but it's a free 3d version of TA. It's pretty awesome.

Oh, and one more thing: Core > Arm.

I have all the expansions, been playing this for YEARS!! I still play it now. arm > core, but only if you nick a core construction unit and build mass krogoths.

Oh, thats pretty easy to do. but you have to get it early.

uberhack is not an actual hack. It's a mod independently released by the head of the TA development team (it broke apart). Basically it....
-puts more emphasis on micro
-decreases the range of some of the cannons that can shoot across the whole fucking map
-really emphasizes the difference between arm and core. core= fast attack, infantry arm= air and sea, strategy

i dont belive what im reading. :shock: ... did some1 actually like TA-Kingdoms :?: ....that was the worst game ever....ass graphic.....interface like a ubernoob :oops: .....ok ..im gonna stop before i begin...TA-Kingdoms sucks garlic dipped balls....but TA CORE VS ARM.... ITS THA BOMB!!!...for sure the best game ever played....my friends and i played it flat out for months .... now we play it when we get together... but for sure...

Interface.. Managing , the fights....the hordes of destruction .. the options...THE FUN......hmm...is it legal to marry a game?... or doesnt that sit to well since its already copyrightet???

But i can see now why you might get that idea....heheh......forgive my overtiredness... , put still... i played TA-K , and i didnt even bother to finish the first level....maybe because i was expecting something more similar to TA . You might say i had my hopes up high . It was similar in many ways.... but way worse gameplay then TA. I really miss playing TA .......... !!! ...

Man the music was good. I mean what other game has a full orchestral score that changes if you are in battle or not?

thats a fair point actually, they should change the music in more games depending on what you are doing.

Yeah TA was the pwnage. Supreme commander looks good but i'm not getting my hopes up in case it sucks....

now the soundtracks are just crappy.

Personaly i was never really a fan of TA, for its time it was a good game but i thought the buildings were too strong and it encouraged turtleing. Now starcraft, that was an increadible game!

How are the buildings too strong? Just get some Lugers+Merls = death for Punishers. The game wasnt about just building across the map, even tho that is a viable strat, it was also about the variety of units, mobile and stationary. I mean the use of radar jammers or a lack of radar units can win/lose you the game, even if you have more units.

lol...compared to starcraft the buildings in ta are made of straw...coupled with the fact that ta allows for more units to be built in a shorter amount of time than in sc, actualy makes them pretty much weaker.
even a weak little core bomber(cores drop more bombs than arms) when it reaches veteran status(yet even more bombs dropped) it can kill an aircraft plant in 2 runs if used correctly.

but u can never really compare the 2 games because they have completely different ranges of damage.

ey like i said "I never really liked TA" im sure lots of you did, i mean if you didn't this wouldnt be a 5 page topic. i never played ta back when it was originaly releaced, i only played it recently when my friend hooked us up with a copy of it and the exps. Actualy probably the bigest reason i didnt like it was it was the first strat game he actualy beat me at.

Yea, TA is by far the best....just cause I pwned so much at it. TA:K wasn't as good of a game, but I was even better at that one! So, any of you guys play TA:K on Mplayer? Cause I was the guy winning all the tourneys before they nerfed the blimps, lol.....then I just won most of them.
