Okay, I'm voting Jengerer's but I will provide some critiques for both since I am a stickler for these things.

Degoth

• Grunge effects look a bit dated =P It just makes the forum look like every other clan/gaming community site - especially since PP's colour scheme (apart from the orange) is commonly used on such sites.
• GA logo at the top should be changed to something more generic since not everyone is in the GA. I do like that you've used PP's images as icons, with the associations to the calls of action and whatnot.
• Using blue text looks a bit weird since it's not really part of the general PP colour scheme. The unselected menu items at the top would look better in white text and any darker instances of blue would look better in grey.
• The lines where the forum stats and events are look too harsh and would better in dark grey. The bold headings are enough to establish a separation in content.

Jengerer

• For the most part, I like the way you used all that red for the sub-forum list. The only bits that MAY benefit from the use of a different colour are the table headings sitting above General Discushun (Forum, Stats, Last Post Info).
• You could possibly try making the entire General Discushun row the same colour (probably the red in the first column). I just think it makes the design look more consistent since there are a lot of horizontal lines and the differently coloured colums just kind of break that flow.
• Your hyperlinks aren't obvious. There isn't enough contrast between your normal text and your links. You should either change the colour of your links so that it stands out more or simply put the underline back in.
• I know you mentioned it was half-assed but change the entire bit at the bottom. The stark white burns, especially if you've been staring at the darker part of the design for long periods.
• The red footer bar could be moved up a few pixels so that it is the same distance as the space between the forum list and "Today's active content, The moderating team, etc". Or you could try moving it up so that the space is the same as "Today's active content, etc" and the forum stats.

Overall, both are quite good! Jengerer's just stands out more IMO, and I like the sense of depth he's created with his design by using simple techniques.

I think you should provide a screenshot for a forum thread since it's what we'll be looking at most of the time.

Whoa, I only just saw this thread, even though I checked this section several times for the voting thread. Oh, and... Dirge, you fool! There was a more updated version without the half-assed bottom part and with the red toned down a couple of notches in the section rows!

Wow, nice critz, this is what I've been looking for! Thanks! I agree with all of your points, and I'll work on fixing them up if the skin goes into action. I'm a little undecided about whether to keep the section-row red or gray like it is in the updated version. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I think I'll try and get a few variations up and see which one you guys prefer.

Also, this mock-up only demonstrates how the front-page will look, and I haven't done any work on the thread viewing yet, but I think you can get a pretty good idea of how it'll look. Take a look at the IPB3 default skin in thread-view mode and replace the colour scheme, and that's essentially what it'll look like.

They're both good, but I think each of them has something the other doesn't... if that makes sense at all. Like. Where one has property X that makes it good, it lacks property Y. While the other one has property Y, it lacks property X. THERE that explains it. lol

Like the darker color scheme a lot better. For some reason I still like the default scheme most though. It's simple, and that's why I like it I guess. Maybe if you changed the background to flat dark gray instead of the diagonals and toned down the red on the header bar thing.

There's also something that just feels kind of off with the "Pure Pwnage Forums" part of the logo.

I'm actually a fan of the default skin as well, but I think having a decent selection when your eyes get bored of the same colour scheme would be nice. I'll work on modifying the colours around and seeing what comes out best when I have some free time. Thanks for the feedback.

Also, I'll see if I can do some variations of the title text and see how it turns out.

Tbh, I'm really digging it the way it is in this version. The only update you should make from there is to change the link colour. Great job Jeng!
