So, just to clarify (and I'm just skimming through this thread), it's free up to a point, and if you want more content, that costs you extra? Maybe they're hoping that by getting players hooked on the vanilla content, that they'll be drawn in for more? There has to be a financial angle to this...

Well, the game used to be pay, so like, you pay for the game (dunno if it was once or sub per month) and they released expansions, which you then buy, so what they have done now is the game, will be free, and the expansions which add well, more things, you have to buy, so its mainly free, but you can buy the expansions for more content, which costs like, a tenner for each one, and there's 3, so, when its free and if you want the expansions its like, £20, well, from play.com icon_smile.gif

Hmm, reading this back, ive confused my self a bit, so if anyone is confused, well, get someone else to explain icon_razz.gif

Yeah, what the fuck was that, lol.

So, original game is free, if you want expansions you pay X-monies, but the subscription fees have been waived completely. Is that right?

Basically looks like the same deal that DDO have been running for a while.

I will check the game out when it goes F2P, as will many others, old and new..
I didn't find the trial particularly gripping but I'm used to WAR which puts you in the thick of pvp action from level 1, so these old school EQ/WoW PVE grinders are dull as feck to me..

But I think this will be very popular. There's a definite buzz on the internets about this.

I don't think people will use the f2p and then buy additional crap from the store, you're usually better off subscribing; I found the whole system a huge turnoff in DDO and when you can buy potions and buffs, getting a real advantage for real cash theres a sense of diceyness about it all. He who wastes the most irl money wins?

It's an aging game, but an entertaining one - milking it for the free content and then ditching it will be my plan.

Can't bitch about a free ride!

I'm just excited because this destroys and shatter of a reason that people STILL play Runescape. Hopefully when they update the graphics engine to support DX11, they will touch up some of the textures, then this game will be nothing short of erotic free internet porn.

Perhaps it will be enough to hold me off until Diablo 3, and TERA (which might suck anyways).

Now that its free the hackers will get to it guaranteed.... Take a look at the other free online games on the internet there all shit if they are free... Also how the fuck can they justify charging a bunch of people and then out of nowhere making it free. Sounds like diarrhea coming out of a donkeys dick. Every single free FPS on the internet is 40% hackers and I am SURE that they do it to MMORPG's as well.

I got my beta invite today, excited to try it out.

I mean it's the same game as before... but I'm not playing any MMOs as of now and need my fix.
