I feel like i've hit this wall, where having better mechanics than my opponent just isn't cutting it anymore.

As an fps player, this is driving me fucking insane.

haven't you heard? it's all about dat.macro lol. annoying as it is to be told it, with alright macro and game sense, diamond should be reachable for anyone. Compared to BW, SC2 is (imo) much less micro orientated (for now anyway).

I'm pretty sure what he's saying is the opposite. That he can macro and micro, but he's hit a wall in that he can't integrate the strategy that he needs to fully utilize his mechanics advantage.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that my mechanics can't improve. They can, and if they were to get even better i would probably move up, shiz is right. However, my mechanics at this point aren't so much better than my opponent that i win regardless of strategy. If that makes any sense.

It's hard to actually judge because I don't play the other races at all. But when i'm keeping my minerals lower than the other player, microing, macroing, basically doing all the shit that i've ever been told to do...
but still losing. I have to figure that it's because they have a better unit composition, or attacked from a better angle, or something along those lines.

And since all the strategy that i do know is from fps, it doesn't really help me at all. "You go that way i'll go this way and then when they end up here we mow them all down" doesn't really help me at all.
I mean...it kinda does, but not really.

I'm going to start looking/saving some replays to start posting in different places. I think the only way i'm going to improve at this point is with input.

I need this game to just *click, and it just hasn't happened yet.

Feel free to post some more replays, but you'll get more in depth responses on teamliquid (Just make sure your OP follows the guidelines for a help thread).

Keeping money low will win you games for a while, but as you progress up the ladder learning how to spend those minerals (and larvae) is really important. Without other replays I can't really get an idea of your play style, but with that last replay, you'll need to look into when you should be pumping drones and when to cut production. From what I remember of the game, you kept your minerals low by building up an army, but once you eventually engaged he had a sizable army and the income to reinforce.

Do you follow pro games much? A lot of the intricate side to sc2(/rts) strategy can be learnt from studying replays or simply watching VODs with good castors.

If i had to choose three things that i can pick out myself that i need improvement on it would be exactly what you said. Knowing when i need to make drones, and when i need to make my army.
Positioning,
and harassment.

Casts are where it's man. I had gigs of BW replays, couldn't get enough. Watching a SC2 replay these days is just boring though.. only do it while i'm capped (aus net ftl).

About 5minutes away from me you can get 100mbit net.. we're getting there lol.

But yeah aus broadband has pretty much always had a cap.. shit sucks.

Found out that this is only about a 4 hour drive from where i live. I'm thinking about going.

Apparently a friend from class has access to press passes through another friend, so there's a very, very tinytiny slim chance that i may be able to go into the player area and see some of the pros.

That's exactly the experience I have whenever I start up a call of duty game.

I get called a *Naga* by some punkass white kid, then immediately get muted every time.

I've never had this problem until i played sc2.
I find in CoD they'll talk shit with you for hours before the lobby drops or something, then it will continue via messages.
I don't do that very often, and typically mute people without talking any shit at all right at the start of the game. But when it does happen i never get muted.

But in sc2, every time somebody talks shit they ignore you. I don't get it, why message me? What are you getting out of it? especially when you're not getting to see the response.

SC2 actually causes some legitimate rage (due to you dying usually to your own mistakes rather than some OP bs)

Both communities are shit, but there's way more positives to the Starcraft community than there is for that shitfest of a community.

Seananners is probably the only positive thing to come out of that community in past 5 years.
