Also, if you have a bandwidth cap I'd be careful streaming things for very long. You're gonna cost yourself some $ if you aren't careful.

The blinking should be gone now. I think i'm probably going to make a twitter account to announce when I'm going live and what not. I'm signed up on teamliquid, when my account their has been in existence long enough I'll hopefully be able to get my stream show up on that sight as well.

Idk, i kept saying while i was in gold that when i hit plat that I was going to start streaming. Now that I'm starting there's just a bunch of factors that I never considered. So if you guys have any more suggestions or feedback I really do appreciate it.

Even if I have to pay more for internet, I would really like to make this streaming thing work. I really don't want to have to get a real job after college. That being said I plan on having to get much better at Sc2.

As somebody who (as i understand it) has helped to run a website and a youtube channel, do you have any advice cakecom?

Get prepared to spam your channel / website everywhere you go, and don't spam people you know in RL but you can suggest they check it out if they like Starcraft.

If you spam people you know in RL, they get bitchy (trust me)


Also, I wouldn't recommend buying a website until you've got followers. Make a youtube channel, upload all pre-recorded streams there and make yourself big there. I personally don't like Streaming as much as I do YouTube as it feels a tad less popular, but looking at people like Day9 it seems there are gigantic exceptions. But on YouTube getting attention isn't impossible, it just requires you to talk to key players. When you've got one video of yourself that you REALLY like, send messages to people like Husky, Day9, etc. and ask them if they'd check out your channel. If they like it, they'll usually spread the word. Even one popular youtuber talking about you is enough to get you exposed to hundreds.

I also threw quite a few contests, which costed me and my buds some $. You could do that, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it. Doesn't seem to reward as much as I'd liked it to have.

Basically, just go in making entertaining videos. If people enjoy your videos, you'll get there. But I wouldn't go in with the attitude of that being your only job later in life. It's pretty rare, almost impossible to get to that point on the internet. Getting enough followers to generate any $ worth mentioning takes a long time... even gigantic websites like Thatguywiththeglasses.com and cinemassacre only make so much cash to barely make a living, and they're some of the biggest video entertainment sites on the internet (well next to porn... >X3).

Pure Pwnage pulled it off pretty well, but I don't know specifics so I can't say for sure. It seemed like they were probably making enough cash for most of the core cast to live off of.

I'm not really trying to make a living off of the stream and youtube, but as a supplement. But I'd really like to get good enough to at least start showing my face at tournaments next year.

The dream (and i realize that it is a dream) would be to go pro. If not I'll still have my degree to fall back on.

The ZVT I was watching was funny, the T seemed almost retarded during the beginning stages of the game.

Ya i should have. My zvt is horrible. I think my problem is a leftover fear of turtled up terrans from bronze or silver league. In the future if he never moves out I'm going to start attempting to at least take out his nat.

Grats mate, I'm pretty jelly. I remember way back when I only got as far as low diamonds... then I literally couldn't win a single game for weeks. Just quit all together .
