San Jose to beat Detroit

I think that will actually happen. San jose got better offensively and nabokov seemed solid. They were number one in west for a reason, maybe we'll see the season sharks vs the fugly playoffs version?

Chicago to beat Vancouver

Who knows with these 2 teams. It will be a good 6 or 7 game series imo. I'm biased for vancouver though

Boston to beat Philadelphia

Boston will beat phily. Rask VS Boucher is a no brainer. Boucher is inconsistent just like brodeur at times. Marc savard is back in the lineup (For Boston), while Simon Gagne and Jeff carter are out for phily.

Montreal to beat Pittsburgh

WHO KNOWS?
It all depends on montreal defense again. Blocking shots, shutting down PP and halak as always coming up with those big saves.
I could definitely see this happen after last round

I don't see Montreal being able to shut down the depth that Pittsburgh can put on the ice. Shutting down a single line in the playoffs isn't impossible when you have a hot goalie, which the Habs proved again. But shutting down potentially 3 scoring lines, while still scoring goals yourself?

The playoffs expose weaknesses. Montreal showed that Washington was very one-dimensional and young (you can't argue that the Caps weren't looking passed Montreal before it was too late). Pittsburgh has been there, and they're pretty much the same team that won the Cup last year.


I'm going out on a limb and saying I'll be surprised if this one goes to 6 games. I can see Halak stealing ONE game, but not the series.



The rest of your predictions seem likely. San Jose especially. Nabokov looked shaky those first 3 games, but improved greatly as the series went on. Had it not been for a couple of lucky bounces/plays (despite what Kyle Aziz says), that would've been a sweep. And Thornton/Heatley/Marleau aren't even producing. It'll be scary to see what that team can do when their top players start playing like top players.

yeah but look at ottawa. they took 2 games and their goaltending was very shaky at times.
I really don't think this series can be predicted... To many 'Ifs'.



Washington had a lot of scoring lines man, they have 7 +20 goal scorers and none of them were defense men. Greene had 19
Pittsburgh has the crosby/malkin line (51/28), and then staal/guerin/dupuis (21/21/18 respectively), everyone else was 15 and under.

Montreal will have had a tougher time shutting down washington's offense rather pittsburghs.

Look what they did to semin... 44 shots (highest person on team.. ovi was 2nd with 34) 0 goals, 2 assists.
Mike Greene (highest goals/assists for defense men in season) had only 23 shots and only 3 assists, 0 goals.


Let's just not over estimate pittsburgh.. or underestimate montreal. This is going to be a tough series IMO and no one is advancing through without a fight.

I don't feel all too good about playing Pittsburgh on Friday, Halak's thee last games were huge and I hope fatigue doesn't kick in the second round. I can't remember how long it's been that Montreal had passed the second round, I was probably way too young to remember.

I hope the SJS beat Detroit, hope to see Chi town beat Van, want Chicago to beat SJS in 7.

East, want Philly to win, and want Montreal to win. Basically though I don't care as long as Pitsburg an Boston don't go through, and if they both do. Atleast for boston to beat Pitsburg 'cause atleast they wont win the cup no matter who they play.

Basiaclly it's not really who I want to see win, it's who I don't want to see and they are; Pitsburg, Boston, Detroit.

It's wishful thinking, more than anything. In a 16 person hockey pool I'm apart of, I currently sit 5th; 6 points back of 1st. I've got 8 players remaining after 1 round though, the most of anybody else.

Although... Staal might be out now, and they did get a lot more shots..
This could be like the Cannucks/Kings series where Kings just ruined on powerplays but cannucks dominated 5v5.
