I'll be getting the DVDs. Infact, I'm waiting for them. I want to make a large order of a few T-shirts, Dog Tags, Internet Season 1 and TV season 1 altogether. Then I can just be overcome by the sheer amount of PP stuff. and have a brain explosion.

Intel Core i7 870 | Corsair H50 Watercooler | 16GB G.Skill DDR3 1600MHz
Asus P7P55D-E Pro | Galaxy GTX 460 768MB SLI | OCZ Vertex2 60GB SSD
2x 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD RAID-0 | Corsair HX850W PSU | Samsung Blu-Ray

I don't really pay to watch stuff anymore, so I think i'll pass and just continue to watch them as they're uploaded online, just as I did with the free web series.

Yes, artists should never be compensated for their work! They should work their asses off to provide free entertainment to ungrateful morons, and get absolutely nothing in return. Dance monkey dance!

Seriously, fuck off. You've been one of the most vocal people on here about wanting to support them but not being able to do so because you're not in Canada. Buying the DVD when it comes out is a very viable way to do just that.
If everyone had your attitude, they probably wouldn't have been able to get to the second season of the online show, let alone stay at it long enough to get a TV show.

No I'm playing Hello Kitty Online right now...
Yes I'm getting the DVD later.

It'd be wrong for me to say that after waiting patiently for more or less 2 years on the series I'll be willing to wait a few more months or a half year for the DVD.

In regards to all the grief about the show not being available outside Canada... The PP crew are gonna put the tv series on dvd so fast it'll make ya head spin.

Are we any less of a fan of the show if we see it a few months after all the Canadians? I dont think so...

Haven't read the replies, but: No, as a long time fan I feel I deserve to watch the show at the same time Cunucks do seeings how I waited so long for an internet episode that never even came out.

Edit: And yes i've bought merch and shit. I dont expect shit for free when i've done nothing to earn it; but at the same time I need a bone thrown to me if i'm gonna feel like I should still be a fan.

I can understand how frustrating it is for people outside of Canada who have to wait so much longer to see the show legitimately; I've experienced this with a ton of American and British shows.
If you have bought merch in the past, and are planning on getting the DVD, watching the show through less official means probably isn't the worst thing, since you are supporting the show in the ways available to you. People just need to learn not to be so blatant about it.

I agree. But If the DVD is released in American and Canadian region only then people living in the European region won't be able to watch it icon_confused.gif

On Showcase's website it says at the bottom. . .

Showcase does not have the distribution rights to any of the programs or films we broadcast.

It sounds like the distribution of a DVD will be entirely up to the PP crew. I don't think anyone has to worry about release for only Canada.

I'm a little uncertain as to how Pure Pwnage could release an international DVD. If it's up to Pure Pwnage to release the DVDs, then they could just distribute the show online, i.e, a "virtual DVD". And since they seem to be unable to do that (because of Canadian TV broadcasting laws), I don't know how possible it is to release the content to several nations. Anybody know how this whole thing works? Is there a different policy for releasing a physical copy of the show?

Is the web-series localized? Can you not watch the web-series either? No? Then maybe this isn't their choice. It's definitely Showcase's choice (110%).

I'm sorry, but it's not their fault the online episodes are localized. They are hosted on showcase.ca ONLY (Same as Kenny v. Spenny, etc) and this is localized due to Showcase. They likely have a contract saying they can't put the episodes elsewhere.

One of my favourite online PC Games broke their contract by not localizing the servers (They were licensed for North America but they released world-wide) and the game was very quickly taken down. Quite sad.

It's just how the world works, and in a case of a contract, Pure Pwnage would easily lose a lawsuit if they broke their contract and then we'd never see any new content.

Please contact your local stations: Quite a few people are working together to do so, and the more replies they get, the more prospective the show will seem to them. This is definitely something that needs to be done by the community, as I'm sure Geoff and Jarett are working hard on getting the series to other stations, but it's just limited, especially only 4 weeks after the first episode aired. It could take months if we don't help.

For physical copies, they can sell them internationally. It's just broadcasting (on TV and online) that's region restricted.
As for selling digital copies; I'm not entirely sure how that works. There's some regional issues with it, but it's much easier to work out deals for. It's much simpler to convince an American digital retailer to stock something than it is to convince a network to broadcast something.

That's what I'm wondering, though; where is the line drawn? Why are they allowed to distribute physical copies of the show, but not digital? i.e, why can't they host it on their site if they're allowed to freely distribute DVDs to retailers. And is the process wholly different for getting the show onto DVD and getting the show onto something like Netflix?

It's definitely a process that is way more complicated than it needs to be.
Basically, the rules are convoluted as hell because they were mostly put in place well before 'new media' (online content) was around in any real way, and then, because these rules are put into place by people who don't understand new technology, they applied the rules to a media said rules don't really work for.

They actually may be able to sell digital copies internationally, I'm really not sure on that particular matter.
Basically, my understanding is that they can 'sell' it internationally, but they can't 'broadcast' internationally. At least part of that has to do with broadcasting both on TV and online having sponsors who pay specifically to advertise on that show, and those sponsors obviously being from one particular country. Another part of the issue is broadcasters in other countries not wanting to lose viewers to shows from other countries (which makes absolutely no sense in relation to online broadcasting, hence what I said about old media rules being applied to new media even though it doesn't work).

As for Netflix and similar services; I have absolutely no idea.
