honestly though, best counter is literally fast tech to lair with double gas and a 14pool 15 hatch, get infestor den AND hydra den as soon as lair finishes, then mind control thor and snipe the medivac. I finally got a beta key from Amazon, but now the stupid blizzard downloader isn't downloading SC2. It's just stuck on 0% for as long as I wait. WTF?

make sure its not being blocked by your firewall

well you used to be able to disable p2p transfer at some point, they removed it by the looks of things a few patches ago :\

For the blizzard updated you can't change P2P settings on that, in fact I don't think it even uses P2P because the patches are hosted on their server or something, where as when you actually download the game you can choose P2P or not, I choose not to use P2P because I get 1mb/s whereas if I use P2P i get like 200 kb/s.

I'm running the updater and it's not downloading anything either. So I manually downloaded all the patches, and ran the updater, and it installed a bunch of them. It apparently stopped at version 14133, and now it won't install any more of them. I guess I should reinstall and then do the manual download AND manual installation of each patch? Such a hassle...

I have the beta installed on my PC, but I don't know how to play, and I'm pretty bad at RTS (I don't play very often).

You could have a few goes against the CPU, its set to very easy so they will rarely attack you so you can practice with units and try out things etc.
