Fucking awesome! I pre-ordered the CE from Amazon, (which cost $160 with p+p+duties) and recieved a beta key and I've cancelled my pre-order. I must be the spawn-est bastard ever! icon_biggrin.gif

And heres proof

god damn mauraders - hate them so much
Not just the early game mauraders, but when they get massed. Unless you got an army of immortals or some good storms you get raped.

Well, you are pretty limited in options:

Let's see what your options are : marines get raped by storm and colossi, mech is too slow and immortals rape it, hellions just suck. The only other option than massing marauder (obv with ghost/medivac in the mix) is massing air, which there isn't enough gas for.

Also, baneling bust is the new dt rush, 3 zergs in a row tried it.

God I add marines to my army, just 'cause they're easy to pump and do decent damage, adding a bit of jazz to my marauders. An if he's a toss ghosts are always key.

Ordering from FutureShop was a bad idea. They advertised giving a key within one business day, and it's been a whole 5 and I have yet to receive anything. They said we should get them by today after I called tech support, but it's fucking ridiculous even without that guarantee. No apology, no email mentioning what's going on, and not even an update on their site saying it's definitely not one business day for other people planning on buying.

I don't totally regret the preorder because it's the cheapest I've found it anywhere, but I have no further incentive to preorder from FutureShop anymore. Watch release day come and they're going to have "difficulty getting the product from Blizzard" or some nonsensical shit like that. Fucking assholes. </rant>

On that note, I did download the beta and played a little single-player, so I had a little fun there... would much rather play online, though. Bots on hard build so fast, Terran vs. * is pretty much turtle expand turtle expand until you drain them and then assault when they have only queens left on TvZ and nothing on TvP. icon_sad.gif

Did you pre-order on the weekend. Many who ordered on the weekend had this problem. I pre-ordered on Monday and I got mine the next day in my spam box.

Yeah, on the forums an admin said that they missed a few that ordered over the weekend, but were reprocessed and then told me I should get it by Friday, and there's nothing yet.

This feels like being thrown off the deep end of the pool the way the beta is set up, I don't get any descriptions of units, and the only help is in game while I'm being harassed, wonder why they didn't borrow the tutorial idea from the first dawn of war to at least give people an idea of what's in the game before they're being hit up by a mass of units they've never seen before which siege tanks don't seem to do any significant damage to

well there are several options you can take from here, 1, youtube is your friend, 2, people from PP forums are your friends, get connected and play some games with people, 3, play against AI to get to grips with units and buildings, and 4, drop your self in copper league, there are people there still learning the game no doubt icon_smile.gif

It is the beta. It is for testing balance, server load and league system. There will be "challenge" levels in the game, where you have to use the right counters, do proper micro with spellcasters or multitasking.

It's not full release, they're not here to pander to people who don't know anything about sc2. The majority of players who are in the beta knew about the units and what was what before everything got started.

There also is a type of tutorial, it's called pick beginer when the popup asks you. You get 5 matches against the computer where you can use the ingame help to learn units and the like.

That isn't his point, though. He means that the game itself doesn't offer any help to players. h3r1n6's got it, though; it's the beta. When the actual game is released, it'll very likely ease the player in through the campaign levels.

I assume they didn't really worry about the StarCraft 'newbies' because right now, they're probably focusing very heavily on getting the races as balanced as possible, which is a result of feedback from higher tier players who already know what they're doing before the game's even installed.

yes, that is why i suggested to use the internet or practice with people/ai. I have had no experience with sc1 or any rts game at all, a few zero hour games but nothing major, ive played around 20 sc2 games total over 2 accounts and ive been landed in gold league, simple because of the amount of videos i watch and practicing build orders with friends/ai, my point here is not be be an ass or any thing, just pay attention to husky or total biscuit, it helped me alot. icon_biggrin.gif
