this is my biggest interest, I picked up SC in like 2008 and was just waaaaaaay too far behind to ever catch up (im still trying) and no matter what I always ended up playing someone way above my level, so much that I didn't learn anything (even on iccup)

No. Korea's StarCraft esports scene will largely remain with SC1. It will be a test of time, balance and quality of SC2 as to whether everyone switches.

I love having TWO friends that have keys from blizzcon and don't like starcraft. Beta from day 1 here I come. W00T

I also eagerly await when Korea switches to sc2 like a swarm. Then I'll come back here, quote the "uber gamers" still playing sc and trying to be awesomesauce.

Regardless of how much better you will no doubt forever insist sc1>>>>everything ever, money will ever rule. The masses will play sc2. The masses lead to sponsors, sponsors lead to pro gamers, pro gamers lead to leagues.

With this said, don't get me wrong, I love starcraft, far and above the best rts ever made. Times change though, and I'm more than excited to play a new starcraft title.

I now await the mass flaming. icon_wink.gif

I kind of agree with you actually.

Sure, SC1 is and will always be a great game, but can't we have TWO great games? I'm sure SC2 will be good as well.

As already said, Starcraft 2 is going to be MASSIVELY POPULAR

More players -> A constantly changing metagame -> More and more exploits and imbalances ->
The ball will be in Blizzard's court. Blizzard will hopefully patch it well and the cycle will continue until harmony is reached icon_smile.gif

stemming from what you guys said, I hope they change A LOT in sc2. And I mean A LOT LOT, cause if its 'space orcs in 3d space', thats is the exact same game, what would be the point? We already have sc, we can just play that.

So yeah, I certainly hope it's a completely different game from scbw, precisely for the reason so we can have 2 great games

It seems fairly clear that it is a different game and they've changed a lot from what we've seen so far. Even if they have some of the same units, they probably won't play exactly the same, like zealots and zerglings for example.

Constantly changing metagame? You can't know that. In fact, my guess is that the game is going to be solved a month or two after release.

AltCtrl: if i was gonna play ra3 i might as well go play wizard 101 too

Wouldn't it have to be perfectly balanced at release for it to be solved months after? Seems unlikely
