I just wanted to bring this up to say fucking sucks, man
. Just get me TES5 so I can punch more elves and get yelled at by guards.
this is something that pisses me off. A lot of MMOs at least since WoW are WoW clones. A lot of games did all the bad parts of MMOs well. Ultima Online did almost everything perfect for me except for story and graphics(the game was never about graphics though) for example.
Every big name game today follows the standards of the genre. Health and ammo in the left lower corner for FPSes, unit portraits and sound when you order them in RTSes, exclamation mark above quest givers head in MMOs. And this is where I want to flip off some of the game developers for following this standard success formula. I'm not saying it's necessarily bad, but a lot of them would be better off figuring out something new. Especially if you WILL get compared to WoW as soon as you get release a MMO.
If they do an mmo, i hope that they make characters in 3rd person mode look less like mannequins floating over water haha, but I do believe if its done right it could be pretty damn kick-ass.
Don't forget that we're talking about Bethesda here, man. With all due respect, they can't finish a game for their lives. They can make up a decent idea for a game, then suddenly run out time somewhere in alpha and just roll with it and release the game. I mean, I like the games, but come on now, you can't deny that there was SO much more potential in them then they used.
And oh boy
, that's definitely not something that is looked for from MMO developers. Release is the single most important step in it's timeline, and if you fuck that up with release a half-done game, too bad. Shit's tight. Tightest in the whole industry. Imagine making a joint next to a McDonald's and Starbucks. Yeah, y'knowwhatImean? I don't think Bethesda's so good financially that they could outlast their opponents.
You better release that shit good and you update it real
quick. LotR Online got the right idea, I think, but they are still not anywhere near the massive meatball. Warhammer Online tried releasing the updates now and then, and now are flopping over despite the excellent-looking development process.
Sure, it would be interesting to see what they could come up with, but I don't want them thrashing their time, franchise and fucking themselves up.
