I'm looking for a free, simple video editing software. It needs to be able to trim videos and play music. Windows Movie Maker won't work for me :-/. Every time I load the videos, it says I need some sort of codec. Also, all the videos I uploaded from my camera are ".mov" and most programs wont open those videos and open ".avi" So does anyone know a free avi converter as well? I need this ASAP for a school project, thanks in advance! icon_smile.gif

SUPER is a good video converter. Now for a free video editing software....dunno but you should convert the videos onto WMV or AVI and then iomport them onto WMM.

I do semi-professional video production and editing so i know what I'm talking about (sorry, sounded big-headed). I recommend using Sony Vegas pro 9.0, it's by-far one of the most professional video editing programs.

30-day trial here:

Also, I'm not surprised. Windows Movie Maker is terrible. Definitely one of the worst.

I am a aspiring film maker so i understand the problem with trying to get your hands on video editing software and such, but i use adobe premier pro and after effects. but here is a few links to some free open source video editing software that you should look into and try out.

Avidemux can be used on windows 32-bit only along with mac and linux
CineFX
Virtual Dub
Virtual Dub Mod

it is pretty hard to find free video editing software for windows majority of it is for linux and mac.

hope this was helpful.
