Some sad shit http://www.cnn.com/2...uake/index.html

You can help: just text Haiti to 90999 and 10 dollars will be taken from your cell phone bill (I think its US only, but not sure). I have, I thought it was a worthy cause considering some Americans spend that at a daily basis for trivial things.

Yes its sad, but no.

I need money myself, I wish I had enough to spare to give it away to people, but I don't.

I consider myself a humanist and therefore felt I had a moral obligation to donate.
So yes - of course I did.

If you feel like helping your fellow humans then I suggest you head to the Red Cross site or MSF/Doctors Without Borders and give a donation.

It doesn't matter if you do or not. Some people might just feel like its something worthy considering that Haiti is an extremely poverty and now disaster stricken country.

That is true but most of the times there's nothing you can do to effectively avert that. In this situation however there are multiple organisations who, with your help, can save lives. You should care because you can make a difference.

Why should I be donating money to people who I don't give a fuck about? I don't expect anyone from Haiti to be donating money to save my ass if something happens where I live, so why should I do something for them?

Haiti can go fuck themselves for haiting the rest of the world anyway.

this...

maybe if I had disposable income I would, but I do not. I had a hard time talking myself into buying generic brand syrup at the store today.

And like someone else pointed out, would anyone really donate to help me if a tragedy happened here? I didn't see dubai jumping up to aid after katrina.

This poverty stricken country won't be so poor when this is all over, it's a fucking media frenzy and celebrities all over are jumping in on the action. I'm not going to donate to a country I don't care about when I'm fucked financially myself. My taxes are already helping them out enough. I didn't even know where it was until I saw it laying next to the Dominican Republic. If the Dominican got hit I'd donate, we need to keep farming our baseball players there or our Summers would become very boring

It's not something that you are forced to do. You can chose to If you feel that it's a good cause.
You might not give a fuck about the man who's lying, in an empty street you happen to be passing down one day, crying out for help because he's fallen and broken his leg. You might indeed not care about the man, or who he is - but I'll almost guarantee that you'll call for an ambulance with your phone or lend him a supporting shoulder to the nearest emergency station. When faced with the decision of helping that man you'd probably do it, and so would almost anybody, because it benefits society and humanity.

That's a bit how I see it. You have the chance to help that man, even though he might just be a nobody.

I'm sorry to say this but I don't know whether or not you're being serious. Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world. 80% of the population of Haiti is estimated to be living in poverty. Most live on less than 2$ per day. So no.. I'm afraid they'll have to keep those money for themselves If they want to survive.

According to my research (following Nathan Fillion on twitter), Alyssa Milano is all over it.

That's two completely different situations. On one hand you're there, with that guy, on the other hand you're thousands of miles away with people you'll probably never meet...

If I lived in Haiti of course I'd help, I'm living there and have to deal with it.
