IMO that was too hard for the average guy, TBC was pretty good in that sense.

Many people have the mis-conception that vanilla was in any way, shape, or form difficult. It wasn't. truth be told, WotLK is multitudes harder than vanilla. In vanilla, the game was brand new and nobody understood how their class worked, or what gear was best for their class. There were little-to-no addons (like DBM) to help people. This means you have rogues running around in +spell damage gear, or priests using +agi gear, etc, and people fucking up on easy shit in fights (the majority of which were either tank-n-spank, or the mechanics were bland and unimaginative). Even Blizzard didn't know how their game worked (see: the horrible itemization on every piece of gear up to T3), and didn't tune, well, anything properly.
