That is a really terrible graphic. I was trying to figure out why you'd placed a black strip along the bottom, but then I realised that it wasn't actually part of the image but was just the same image reflected - except that it doesn't look like a reflection because it's all the same opacity with no falloff. And the fact that it's a terrible attempt at a reflection is really a moot point considering that adding reflections to everything is a design fetish employed by just about everyone on the web these days, including advertisers, and I couldn't be any more sick of seeing them whether done right or wrong. The background itself is very blurry and looking at the mountain range on the right makes me think I'm suffering from double vision, but on top of all that, it's made to look very flat by the huge drop shadow coming from the plane and slightly subtler drop shadow from the men in camouflage. The logo looks like it was drawn by someone else entirely and doesn't mesh well with any of the other visual elements, which I assume is what the designer wanted - for it to mesh - because there's no stroke or drop shadow applied to make it stand out, which is where, if anywhere, one would expect these effects to be employed, instead of letting the logo sink into the background and making some irrelevant objects stand out on the corners, but what's worse is that someone with absolutely no design talent at all decided to add a reflection to that as well.

I realise it's an indy game with a low budget and I, like anyone else, instinctively wish to support it; but how can anyone when it has a promotional image of such poor quality? And don't even get me started on the website.

Yes, it might not be graphically amazing. But like you said, this is low budget, so we are hardly going to see the CoD6 of web-browser games here are we?
2 things that sums it up pretty well.

These things that you are complaining about are likely to be improved by time the full-game release.

They are the ones who have spent these last 2 years making the game for people like, me, u and the rest of the community...
So be bloody grateful!

The mountains are out of focus... Are they out of focus when you look at them IRL from a distance??

The Empire Game is so fun to play, and with friends in your team makes the game so epic! ;D!

I have sucessfully used schools before.
They increase the amount of research points u get so instead of waiting 6 turns for a point, with 200 land u may only have to wait 5, 400 = 4, not sure of the balancing now but thats the idea.

I just learned this uber strat from Kazzerax, it's completely different from what most people are doing I think.. the tough part is timing it properly at the start.
