So i've been playing some RA3 lately and I like the game so far, finished soviet campaign and trying to finish japanese. Do you have the game? Did you like it? What force would you say is the best, Soviet/Allied/Japanese? I would prefer nothing but Soviets, there is nothing more beatuiful then sending in 30 Kirov Airships into an allied base.
You suck at video games, go do something else. Noob!

Don't know much about the Empires campaign, aced the soviets and allies campaigns. They are so cheesy and I love it. I like the game very much, its updated the look and units, added a new faction, and yet still feels alot like RA2. I play with everything... but if I had to pick I <3 ROBOTS... so Empire (come on transformers? thats awsome). My VXs would wipe your Kirovs if I hadn't already raped your base with Tank Busters, Tengus, and VXs. But nothing is better then taking a cloaked apc full of 5 engineers and just taking over parts of your base reaking havoc, or watching a little japanese school girl throw tanks around.

Honestly I've not even touched the campaign, except maybe the first mission for allies, so I'm speaking only from a competitive viewpoint.
There were a few top 10-ers on these forums back in the day, but after Ladder Season 3 there's really no incentive to play anymore, and are now playing starcraft. I, myself, was in the top 300 area-ish, but there's a significantly large gap between those.
As for your question, Empire has always been the worst since release, and not much can be said about the beta because everyone sucked ass back then and didnt know what they were talking about. Last I remember, the only way a competitive empire plays on small maps like Infinity Isle is proxy 2-4 barracks, and then play the game out from there.
However, there was sort of a fad going on where people played on 3-4 player maps (pyroclasm was popular) where empire was more balanced.
But Allies and soviets have been taking turns at the top. With the latest patch, it is fairly balanced, but I still believe allies to be better. It is map dependant too, with soviets being significantly stronger on larger maps because of their all powerful akulas, all powerful dog/flak trooper mass. Their crane allows them to build refineries just about everywhere extremely fast. But even Infinity Isle, a very small map, AvS is extremely balanced.

Empire is the easiest faction to go from no knowledge of RA3 to a top 500 player. In any group of three people one will always be the tallest even if only by a millimetre or two.
Technique has won several major tournaments switching between all 3 factions throughout each tournament.
He used all 3 factions to win Ladder Season 3.
The game is pretty well balanced. <------------- EDIT : as of Patch 1.12

Bullshit. If you don't have any knowledge of RA3 and go empire, Allies are going to vertigo your ass into the stone age right off the bat, and don't get me started about soviet terror drone rapage...

Yeah but there are still a couple areas that need improvement, like tank busters... lawl

i probably should've qualified my comment a little better : no knowledge of the Command & Conquer universe.
the control scheme of RA3 is similar to the control scheme of C&C3:Tiberium Wars.
it may be harder to get from rank 20,000 to say rank 10,000 with Empire due to Allies fast AF build and Soviets terror drone action.
but, to move from rank 20,000 to rank 500 is easier with Empire than Allies and Soviets.
it's not a "walk in the park" with any faction.

Each side has advantages and disadvantages. I like allies cause they have great early game strats, but it's a fair bit harder to expand with allies. Empire is good for late game, and Sovs can cope with both as long as you use them well I think.
Yeah, it's a really good game. Very strategic and micro demanding. None of the massive army spamming bullshit.

I JUST got Red Alert 3 so I'm a mega noob. Going through the Soviet campaign in between class work lol. I like it loads better than CNC G:ZH. I was pretty disappointed in that one

I played through all the campaigns and about 100 hours online.
I find that the Empire of the Rising Sun is the most versatile. Pump out 4-5 tengus asap, and hit there harvesters. From there just keep steady harrassment up until you are able to expand, tech up, and launch a full scale assault.

Have to agree with you there, and add one of the most unpredictable too. Mimic APCs, underground units, attack type changing robots, just alot of fun to pwn as and tons of available strategies.

Disappointed in ZH? No way! One of the best, why didn't you like it?

I kinda got it too late in its life. I didn't enjoy the campaign, and since there wasn't a huge multiplayer scene I wasn't inspired to try and be good. It wasn't the game's fault. I just got it at a bad time hehe.

i just got ra3 from the steam sale and have been dicking around with skirmish.
I was just wondering what maps are the ladder/popular/ranked maps, there dont seem to be any indicators (on cpu skirmish anyway).

Fire Island
Infinity Isle
Battlebase Beta
Temple Prime
Cabana Republic
Snow Plow
Industrial Strength
ie: the ladder maps.
In other news, I am #96 on the ladder because of my EvE mechanics alone. I don't even know what I'm doing vs soviets and allies.
Did honorable discharge tengu spam used to be standard play back when you played, deth?
