First off, why is there no Heatsink/Fan from the low tier pc on this thread:

http://forums.purepw...showtopic=78446

Second, how does the pc run? Can it play source games like team fortress 2 and left 4 dead? About how many frames per second would you get playing source games with that pc?

All CPUs come with a stick heatsink which is adequate for day to day purposes.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

It depends on your settings of course, but this should run the game at max no problems.

I see the CPU is deactivated ugh.. I wish newegg would start stocking the new celerons: http://www.xbitlabs....eron-e3300.html

This is exactly what has been going on through the entire thread, and it's not the first time either.
You come to us for advice..you just spell out what you want to get, and then ask us if it is okay, and we have to explain why it isn't. That's the world upside down.. If you would just say 'hey guys, I have an X amount of money, what should I buy?' Then this would be over in 2-3 posts, not 2-3 pages.

That will run any source game maxed out no problem. icon_smile.gif Seems like a wicked deal too, at $100..

However, I suggest you save your money and get

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130339

with this power supply

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817341016

That's only $40 more, and you will notice a massive difference in performance.

Newegg's Optical drives are like trafic lights.. it's almost impossible to keep track of what available or not.

Honestly, go to your local Fry's, Micro Center or the equivalent and pick up a cd/dvd burner for 20 bucks. you really wont notice performance issues.

One last question, about How much of a performance boost are we talking if I get those 2 parts over the parts already listed. Also, are you guys sure that the stock fan would be good enough for all this?

The 400W PSU should do fine, and the 9800GTX isn't that much of an upgrade with a non-overclocked Pentium Dual-core.. It's a good deal if they honor the rebate though.

And yes, for the third time, the stock heatsink will do fine, why would they include a heatsink that would let it overheat on a product that's been sold tons of times?

Actually, that was a lie... sorry lol. I forgot about this but I heard somewhere that you need some arctic silver or some kind of thermal compound for your processor. Is this true?

Only if you overclock
You get some thermal strips stock with the stock heatsink which work for day to day purposes @ stock speeds.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
