I have high ping problems with my ISP, I generally have 80+ ping to my packets by the time they get out of Bright House's line. The wierd thing is my ping time to Road Runner in Tampa (I live near there) is great, it's like 10 ms, but then Bright House routes my through several routers of other names... Tbone and its dwf routers, and it looks like some other companies, that jack up my ping rapidly... What's up with this? Can anyone else who has Bright House (anywhere in the country) post a tracert to any website so I can compare?

Wow, that's a perfect example of really, really poor routing. Since I don't live in the States there isn't much I can do..except suggest you complain to your ISP directly icon_razz.gif

This is exactly what has been going on through the entire thread, and it's not the first time either.
You come to us for advice..you just spell out what you want to get, and then ask us if it is okay, and we have to explain why it isn't. That's the world upside down.. If you would just say 'hey guys, I have an X amount of money, what should I buy?' Then this would be over in 2-3 posts, not 2-3 pages.

Every time someone goes against Weiman's sig I feel like they should be bludgeoned for a few minutes in the head to feel the headache I feel when I realize someone really IS that dense.

LOL you know that whole thread we had trying to figure out my problem? hahahahhahaha

Just wondering..any idea why they can't let me out after the first 5? Should I call them? Do you think they can change it?

Otherwise I have to switch my ISP...

Do you have any idea how I can find out if an ISP has to send me far away before I'm allowed on to the net, as Bright House has done? Because when I choose, I want one that lets me out into the net after its gone through fewer than 500 miles...

I had a feeling that was you..and really, the only possible cause could be your isp..

Yeah that's pretty nasty, but then again that's not much different to what i'm getting on google.co.uk

Just change ISP, I highly doubt there's much you can do.

I know, but I can't switch my ISP to anything. The only other major ISP in my area is Verizon, and I had the same kinds of problems with that, not to mention that (LOL) when my phone rang I got cut off from the internet. And the guy didn't even come to install it. They kept delaying, delaying, delaying, AND HE NEVER CAME. And I installed it on my own over the internet with a support guy. Anyway, Verizon FIOS isn't in my area so I can't get that...

The problem is, when on support with Bright House I don't know what to say. Anyway earlier I was on support with this guy and I was like "So you think its acceptable for me to have 100+ ms on every server everywhere on the entire planet at any time?" And he's like, "yeah...." more like "gruauguau im a retardhhhhh" WE GUAHAHHA DONT GUAHAHAHREANTEE LOH PING cuz internet is for watching youtube and IFNRMATIN.

There is nothing more fun than gaming as far as uses of the internet go, and yet it gets the least support. What the hell is with this society? I'm not a stupid old granny who thinks she's high tech because she knows how to browse Internet Explorer.

Really, what do I ask the Bright House people? I haven't got a clue, please, anyone...?

Do you think there's something they can do but they're hiding it?

Do you think the ping is that my packets are heavily laden or just slow or is it because of the routers. The technician said he couldn't change the routers, but they take the path of fastest response. SO, HOW IS THAT THE PATH OF FASTEST RESPONSE?

I really need feedback Ima stuck here

It really sounds like you're miles away from any exchange. Which probably explains why you have to be routed through so many different gateways.

Is there any way I can test or reserach how good my pings will be with any certain ISP so I can choose...?

Oh, and I don't really know much about internet, what do you mean "exchange"? What's that? And why would being miles away effect my ping(not in the first few hops) and not other people in my same city....?

Spamming what? I don't see any post you've made that's spam.

More upload would be nice. Maybe something in the 25 Mbps range?

Hiya NV!!! Small world icon_smile.gif You and I both would love more upload speed brother.... I think you put that on the list at another site so I won't add it again but whatever you do...don't think the suggestion has been ignored.

Or you could connect to a proxy in a datacenter near you and hope for some better routing :3

Or just change ISP.

yay.
