So, there is a podcast called "This American Life" which is run by NPR. What it is is all these stories about various topics that escape the normal politics and bullshit that you'd normally hear. It is a great escape and every time I listen to it it makes me feel like I've learned something. Each week the stories have a theme and are told by comedians, editors, writers, etc. and it is probably one of the most intriguing podcasts I've ever heard. And the best part is that it is free!

NPR has some good shows. I listen to this, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, and occasionally Prairie Home Companion. You can find all these on the radio as well.
