8th Chevron. I haven't even seen all of Atlantis because that show was horrible, from the first episode on. At least the first episode of this series has kept me wanting to watch the next one.

7 chevrons were used in SG1 to travel within the galaxy.
8 chevrons were used in SG atlantis to travel to Pegasus galaxy (where the show takes place)
and in SG Universe the 9th chevron was used to travel to the ship "Destiny", many many MANY galaxies away.

I just watched the first (double) episode and I thought it was seriously awesome!

Most characters were pretty cool, story was nice so yea, good stuff

I doubt it.

Stargates were designed to normally use 7 chevrons, to make it easier to travel inside the galaxy.
8th chevron was then added to travel to another galaxy, but it takes enourmes amounts of energy,and the stargates within Milky Way are simply not designed for it. and as far as I know humanity has so far been only able to use it to travel to Pegasus galaxy once, as Atlantis had the only gate which had 8 chevrons in it.

The Ancient ship "Destiny" on the otherhand was designed to travel around the universe, plant as many stargates as possible and then return to Earth once its mission was compleat, and because the ship would travel such a long distance (think of dozens of galaxys) , it needed 9th chevron, so Ancient could travel to it, this ofcourse could only be done from 1 special gate in Milky Way galaxy.

I honestly dont think its possible to add 10th chevron. It just wouldnt make any sense..

I actually like it. Sure I miss the humour of SG1, or to be more accurate, I miss Richard Dean Anderson.

TBH this is the only reason I'm actualy watching it... I was never much of a fan of the other Stargate shows... other than the movie.

Agreed it kinda sucked, but i figure alright that's just the opening few episodes ill let it slide.. I can't wait for an episode where there just exploring the darn ship for crying out loud, hopefully that's the next one. The worst part though is all the grieving going on, i really hope they don't stretch that on any more than it is. Stupid girls mother and her drinking problem.


BTW the people that took off near the end i bet they will come back in a later episode for sure. And either save the day or frig it up LOL


Now that they have good air supply they should have no reason to explore endless nothing planets, so now its going to be like Stargate Atlantis meets voyager maybe.

But the timer thing could get annoying i hope they fix that soon. (it will be alright the first few episodes but dam i hope the entire series isnt on 24hr scale lol.

EDIT: Oh and the smart scientist guy and the gamer fat kid are the two best characters, everyone else i couldn't care less for (including the main soldier character).

I've been watching them. The faith one was stupid. "Let's stay on an abandoned planet because some random race will save us"... if only there weren't evidence of some other race that just mysteriously disappeared never to be heard from again OHWAITURONTHEIRSHIP. not to mention that they just got out of 2 fights with another highly aggressive alien species that likes to kidnap humans...

I was concerned with the direction the show was taking, but since its return after the break, things have really got moving. There's a lot of tension in each episode, and we're left salivating for what comes next. It is very different from SG-1, but that's the point -- if SG-1 had been in such high demand, then they wouldn't have abandoned it.

Why should they want to remain on a derelict ship with few supplies, terrible food and a military leadership that has become hostile to the civilians? They don't have any reason to believe that they might get home any time soon, and so far they haven't come across anything close to the planet they just discovered. It's called hope.
