How the hell do you run out of patience? I mean are you seriously compulsively refreshing the main page hoping there's a new episode? Everyday?

Either enjoy the forums while they get things straightened out or just don't post. You want to bitch at them? Go ahead waste your time sending some angry complaint with poor grammar and non-existent punctuation, I'm sure they'll read more than the first 5 words, but don't post it on the forums so we have to see it. Use private messages.
The lunacy of today is the genius of tomorrow.

Obviously the vast majority of people who have visited these forums have read the state of pp thread. We know what's going on. It's just that people can only remain patient for so long. Personally, I can identify with the way these people feel. When I first saw the show a couple years ago it boosted my ego some, but now I can see that having no life and being a gamer is not something to idolize. On the other hand these guys pulled off something pretty awesome considering that they are amateurs and worked off essentially no budget. It is inevitable though that the show outlived it's popularity, but you still have to respect what they did as an art form even if you can not look at it in the same light as when you first watched it. Things will inevitably lose their luster with the passage of time especially when you're talking about something the internet. That's just the way it is.
The show outlived its popularity? lawl? Do you have any idea how many downloads there was on the last ep's premiere? the show is not by any means declining. The fan base is frustrated, not gone...

The more the internet grows, the more games grow, the more things like pp will grow. It's been around since what, 2004? Its not some magical fluke that only had validity in terms of entertainment for four years, and when you arbitrarily declare it "past its time", suddenly fizzes out.

I hope to god you didn't read Jarett's recent post because if you did and you still make a post like this... This is a free service, why the hell do you think you deserve an episode every X amount of time? Because you bought some stuff? No, you bought that stuff because you enjoy(ed) the show; not because you do it in return for episodes. I mean seriously, a main character (and close friend) died followed by another main character/editor/co-creator leaving. Did you expect Jarett to just shrug it off and put out the episode within the following weeks/months?

Show some fucking compassion for what Jarett has gone through and stop being a selfish little child.

-Sorry for flaming but the fact people are still saying this shit after a very personal post (which God knows I wouldn't be brave enough to do) explaining the whole situation is beyond stupid.

Ok I'm getting really sick of this statement. And please don't take it personally Aresien, tons of people have been saying it on the forums.

The crew owes it to the fans because of all the hype and loyalty a lot of fans have shown. I'm 100% positive every one of you have mentioned the show to their friends and maybe got some of them hooked on the show. They owe it to people like Reaper who have gone to lan parties and other gaming conventions to promote the GA. They owe it to all the mods, all the fans that bought plane tickets to fly halfway around the world to see an ep premiere.

I'm willing to bet that they owe it to themselves as well. Now sure they may not feel the same way I feel but if I start something I like to finish it. It just feels better knowing that you completed your task and it takes a big weight off your shoulders.

And to a lesser degree they owe it to future online shows. This has got to be one of the, if not the, biggest online shows ever created. If it's not the biggest online show it sure as hell is the biggest show based on gamers. They've got to give it a better send off then this.

I don't care if the crew is completely sick of making PP, I wouldn't blame them. 5 years and all this bs that happened recently will really wear on you. But finish it out. Put up 2 more eps to tie up all the story lines and be done with it. Hell sum it all up in 1 more ep, I don't care. Then after that they can go on to do other things but we will be able to look back on a whole series instead of one that was abandoned.

They can go on shoutcasts and interviews and say 'Hey, near the end we really hit a rough spot and couldn't pull out, but we finished it. Now take our example and make something better. Make a show that's funnier, make a show that has more fans, and use our show as a model. Advance internet TV.'

I have to say, I do agree with a majority of what you just said; even though I obviously just said otherwise (I still don't think we can expect say a monthly episode etc).

The loyalty the fans have shown, coupled with everything you've said has brought forward an obligation as such to atleast wrap things up. I agree. However, while they should (and they do intend to) finish it in such a way I hate this attitude from people such as the OP. Jarett as well as the rest of the cast have really been dragged through the rough of it recently and I think their problems give more than enough reason to take a step back and say "You know what, give us the episode when you're ready". Seriously, give the guy some slack.

I personally wouldn't care if we didn't see the next installment until 2010; aslong as Jarett regains his health and the story stays strong.\

*edit* Just to clarify, I never said we didn't deserve or expect another episode, just that we should wait and give them some space.

Yea man I can see what you're saying. I just don't know how I feel about the show taking a whole year off. Yea totally, a lot of shit went down and the first part of 09 must have sucked hard core. And none of us can really say we've experienced something like this just because none of us have a show watched by millions on the internet.

But from my personal experience I feel that at this point we should really be getting weekly updates from either Jarett or anyone else on the crew. Even if they are just updates like, hey we shot 2 scenes this week, it went well. Or maybe nothing happened that week because Jarett's car broke down or something like that.

One of my qualms with the show taking a year of is really because of my own selfishness. It may not be a good reason but it is a reason.

How about this. Jarett updates the main page saying that PP is going on hiatus until 2010 when production will continue on the next episode.

But I still want him or others from the crew to come onto the forums and update us on some other things. The updates don't have to be about the show per say, I'd be down with some general updates about what the crew is up to. Taking class at uni, getting a new job, anything really. Anything to show that they are still devoted to finishing PP.

And that's what it really all comes down to, I want to know that the crew is devoted to finishing PP and they are willing to keep us updated. Not only because its nice to know how your favorite show is coming along, but also it holds the crew accountable. If you don't have to update anyone on your progress then you could really care less how quickly you get something done. But if you have weekly updates to others then you will feel more obligated to perform your task.

"Sucked hard core" may be a little on the light side.
2 people die (Troy and another close friend of Jarret's) followed by Geoff leaving (this is questionable atm with Geoff's post and responses). To top it off this causes Jarett to have a nervous break down.

I just think we really need to re-evaluate what is important here. It's not the show. It's not the story. It's a person recovering from a horrible set of circumstances and illness's. Sure the show and such will follow and we have Jarett's word: "I am absolutely committed to giving this story the proper ending it deserves." but for now we must give our support, not these attitudes and harsh words.

For the moment though we don't need a blog telling us of progress; atleast from Jarett. I mean the stress of it all already caused a nervous break down. Sure if Joel or anyone else would like to write up a blog to let people know what's going down, great! But it isn't important in the grand scheme of things. We have Jarett's word and we should be happy with that.

Here's the problem and if you don't believe me you can test this out yourself in rl. Go up to somebody who's heard of pp before, but isn't a hardcore fan (just a casual fan) and then ask them about the show. Chances are you will get a response like "what? are they still even doing the show?" and that is why pp is declining.

I have been considering suicide for about 2 years now, but have always fought my thoughts away from it. I am not specifically committing suicide in the name of Pure Pwnage, but I think it's important for everyone here to know that the lack of goodness coming from this site has pushed me over the edge.

I looked forward to every pure pwnage episode, especially the last few. I'm one of the few who 100% enjoy the direction of season 2 as opposed to the content in season 1.

PP was so awesome, so pure - it was the one thing I never thought could spoil. If something so sweet and creative can't get back on its feet.. how can I be expected to?

With the end likely already come and gone, I don't see a reason for me to continue waiting - or continue thinking about this.

Good bye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I completely agree with this. I am not personally someone who has gone to any pp premiere, or gaming convention or any kind of public thing to do with gaming, let alone one pp may have been involved with, and that is the only extent the pp crew is consistently involved in the community. That I do appreciate, even though I don't take advantage of it, but nonetheless. Even though as I said they are active in getting in touch with the community in some ways, and put quite a bit of uh, attention to it when they do, it still strikes me as odd just how little communication the PP crew and the community really have. They rarely post blogs, posts of any kind, updates on the front page, or what have you. They never really did. I think if they took a more hands on approach it would help pure pwnage survive- it would keep up their motivation and ours. Anyway, just my 2cents.

You are ignoring the viral nature of the internet. Upon the release of something good, or even mediocre, the internet can spread it mother fucking fast, especially if it has a fanatical fanbase behind it constantly touting its hilarity/win. Guess what pp has? Guess how fast a new ep would spread through all the nerd forums and games and so forth? All the hardcore fans and casual fans, even those who had not heard of it before, would be aware of a new episode and would see it, within a day or two of its release. Guaranteed.

Wow, some people act like there is no internet, like when they turn their PC on the only thing they get is www.purepwnage.com- like jesus fuckin balls, I love this show as much as anyone, and I check back every 2 weeks or so, but you know what Im doing in between those 14 days?- OTHER FUCKIN THINGS

Honestly its not like pure pwnage is the only thing around, there ARE other things you can entertain yourselves with, I hardly think about pure pwnage that much.

These people DONT have to make episodes for you, be grateful for the 18 we have now, and just be happy that they are still trying to make more for us with all thats going on in their personal lives-- teh_pwnerer, fps_doug... these are characters, played by actual human beings, people tend to forget that for some reason

Ok i was a casual fan and i had some free time in the past little while and it popped into my head i wonder whats going on with pp. It didnt even cross my mind that they wouldnt be making it anymore. I just wanted to say that to rep the casual fans out on the world. that being said this is a fairly interesting social experiment. i mean the reactions from people you see every end of the spectrum of emotions due to this. You see anger and sadness as from the OP then you see people who just dont care continuing to ignore post like this and others who are so dedicated and loyal to the show that they will wait and wait and really dont care how long the wait. sorry kinda rambling just kinda find this sort of thing interesting btw im prolly in the later catagory of people icon_biggrin.gif
