Yea man I can see what you're saying. I just don't know how I feel about the show taking a whole year off. Yea totally, a lot of shit went down and the first part of 09 must have sucked hard core. And none of us can really say we've experienced something like this just because none of us have a show watched by millions on the internet.
But from my personal experience I feel that at this point we should really be getting weekly updates from either Jarett or anyone else on the crew. Even if they are just updates like, hey we shot 2 scenes this week, it went well. Or maybe nothing happened that week because Jarett's car broke down or something like that.
One of my qualms with the show taking a year of is really because of my own selfishness. It may not be a good reason but it is a reason.
How about this. Jarett updates the main page saying that PP is going on hiatus until 2010 when production will continue on the next episode.
But I still want him or others from the crew to come onto the forums and update us on some other things. The updates don't have to be about the show per say, I'd be down with some general updates about what the crew is up to. Taking class at uni, getting a new job, anything really. Anything to show that they are still devoted to finishing PP.
And that's what it really all comes down to, I want to know that the crew is devoted to finishing PP and they are willing to keep us updated. Not only because its nice to know how your favorite show is coming along, but also it holds the crew accountable. If you don't have to update anyone on your progress then you could really care less how quickly you get something done. But if you have weekly updates to others then you will feel more obligated to perform your task.
Yeah, I completely agree with this. I am not personally someone who has gone to any pp premiere, or gaming convention or any kind of public thing to do with gaming, let alone one pp may have been involved with, and that is the only extent the pp crew is consistently involved in the community. That I do appreciate, even though I don't take advantage of it, but nonetheless. Even though as I said they are active in getting in touch with the community in some ways, and put quite a bit of uh, attention to it when they do, it still strikes me as odd just how little communication the PP crew and the community really have. They rarely post blogs, posts of any kind, updates on the front page, or what have you. They never really did. I think if they took a more hands on approach it would help pure pwnage survive- it would keep up their motivation and ours. Anyway, just my 2cents.
Here's the problem and if you don't believe me you can test this out yourself in rl. Go up to somebody who's heard of pp before, but isn't a hardcore fan (just a casual fan) and then ask them about the show. Chances are you will get a response like "what? are they still even doing the show?" and that is why pp is declining.
You are ignoring the viral nature of the internet. Upon the release of something good, or even mediocre, the internet can spread it mother fucking fast, especially if it has a fanatical fanbase behind it constantly touting its hilarity/win. Guess what pp has? Guess how fast a new ep would spread through all the nerd forums and games and so forth? All the hardcore fans and casual fans, even those who had not heard of it before, would be aware of a new episode and would see it, within a day or two of its release. Guaranteed.
