I have been waiting for an update on this, and good job on the research. Joel also has a MySpace blog mentioning it:
Scheduled for release in late August is the first issue in a series of graphic novels entitled “Lore”. Myself along with fellow writer Jeff Hodgson have been working with a local artist here in Calgary and have just completed part 1 - “Death in the South”. It's a reinvention of the zombie genre. Taking it to a whole new level of “horror”.
