2001 Holden VU. Basically a Chevrolet Lumina to you (Holden VX Commodore) made into a utility vehicle.

In car related news, went to my dads mates place for beers the other night with him and discovered he has an EL Falcon rusting in his backyard, v8 with a manual box still in it. He said I can have it if I come and get it. Looks like i just found the doner car for a complete 5 stud conversion for the Cortina (plus engine once rebuilt and driveline/gearbox icon_biggrin.gif))

Heyyo,

Heh yeah it's amazing what you find rusting in people's back yards. An owner of a restaurant here in my town? Jack? He has TWO 1969 Ford Mustangs just rotting in his yard... both have the old school V6 straight six motors in them... and both just need a bit of tlc and they could easily be on the road. icon_razz.gif

A Mustang needs rescuing? I'll be there.

I bought a clutch kit (mines been bad since I bought the car), a cat-back for the lulz, and some run of the mill maintenance shit for when I get her back on the road in spring (plugs, wires, fluids, etc)

Sounds* solid. I wish I had money to spend on random crap for my car. Being broke is not very fun.

Agreed. even basic mods (full exhaust/fmic/fuel pump etc) add up pretty quickly.. but it's always worth it.. lol

Louise was hanging out with her Jap friend. Though that was because it was helping me move, perfect conditions, eh?

Roads? Where we're going, there are no roads.

Nice! I've got a lot of love for the Ranges. What's your one holding up like? Has it been reliable and whatnot?

Needed 4 new tyres and an alternator. As with any vehicle the secret is to get them serviced when they need it and don't put off repairs. As Range Rovers are quite sensitive, you can't run one on a shoe string budget. Even a tired battery is enough to cause problems. Lucky *touch wood* mine has been good to me, she is due for a service in a few thousand miles which the way I drive will be in a couple of weeks and this one is the big service, looking at 400GBP.

You can get a 996 Carrera for about 7-15k (GBP) these days. The 996 was late 90s early 00s and were unchanged through their life. Personally I'd get a 90s version. If you don't want brand spanking new, there are plenty of options out there.

If they cost more than that in the US you're being ripped off. The 996 GT2 can be had for about 17k (GBP). But then I suppose you guys don't get access to good cars very often so prices are probably inflated to reflect this.
