Started using this basic set up now. Btw sorry if this is a noobie question but is minigun the chain gun or the nailgun and what is the shaft? Where do you have your guantlet, still at 1, and the bfg, still at 9?

Yeah, you're right, the minigun is the chaingun. The shaft is the Lightning Gun.

For me personally, I don't really play on maps with the BFG, so I don't have it hotkeyed.

For any Australians interested (Are they ever?) unknownz and mick05 from the clan 420 are running an open and invite 1v1 tournament spanning across several weeks, this is to be the first season of what there hoping will be many. At the moment there are quite a few people signed up from varying skill levels so even newer players should get some decent matches. Should the first season of 1v1 run smoothly they hope to also start running CTF, TDM and CA competitions. The signup page for the first 1v1 tournament can be found here.

Arena Live is now released as a browser game only for Linux OS and Firefox browser.
Arena Live is the free Quake3 Clone Open Arena, based on ioQuake3 engine, an extendend version of the id tech 3, with less bugs and more added features. Open Arena comes with own built content like new textures, models, maps, weapons, and sounds.

In the future Arena Live will support other OS. For playing you need a quick registration on the site. It´s more like a demonstration and experiment i guess, haven´t tested it by myself.

I saw this yesterday and it looked good as I use Linux as my everday operating system and just use Windows for games. Hope it happens or I hope QuakeLive becomes available on Linux which is the better option. Why does OA suck?

Because it uses unmoded baseq3 gameplay, which is pretty balls.

Right here is a quick question. I would like to use a cfg like stermys but I do not like the fact that youc an not see the weapon and the weapon hot keys and crosshairs. Is there any quick and easy way to change this or does it get compilcated?

Pretty much all that shit can be changed by going into the config file and changing it all... For the weapon hotkeys just change the buttons as you see fit, the command for the weapon model not appearing is r_drawmodel, just go into the config file and change this to 1.

Yeh I sorted it. Really liking the cfg now as I am getting 125fps constantly now.

In an attempt to allow all of you a greater ability to plan your play schedules - particularly those of you running and playing in external events, ladders, leagues, etc. - we're going to begin updating QUAKE LIVE exclusively on Tuesdays. This does not mean that every Tuesday we will have an update, just simply that if we do have an update planned, it will occur on a Tuesday. We'll try to alert you the week before an update is planned both through the forums and through a Tweet. This does not include any emergency maintenance or patches that may be required, but those are very rare.

With this new policy now in place, we'd also like to let you know that we have a fairly large update planned for next Tuesday (July 14). We are currently planning to take the site down in the late morning (U.S. Central Time) and be down for 3-4 hours. As always, you can get instant site status notifications by following us on Twitter. We'll post a complete list of changes, additions, and other information with the update.

I haven't played it terribley much because I dont CA a whole lot, but genereally in terms of Clan Arena playability I find that the actual CA maps (qzca1/2/3) work a lot better then the standard Quake3 maps, except perhaps dm6; but everyone loves dm6.

Yeah, I don't play much CA at all either. I've got nothing against it, I just prefer CTF really. But yeah, DM6 is surprisingly good for CA.

While a formal announcement with the exact structure and complete rule-sets for this year's official QuakeCon tournaments is right around the corner, we wanted to provide the selected map lists so players can start practicing for the competitions.

That is odd I thought T6 would be in the 1v1 map pool for sure.
