MYM has disbanded their starcraft and warcraft3 teams. Apart from the 4K disband this is probably the biggest blow to wc3 ever, I can only hope more clans and sponsors will emerge to fill the gaping void that MYM has left.
I dunno how this effects starcraft, probably it hurts the scene outside S.Korea but that is all.

Jesus... lots of teams are disbanding lately.
I wonder what's going to happen to the successful players who aren't ready to give up their careers (Moon, Grubby, etc). When 4K was disbanded, Grubby at least had the opportunity to join MYM.. but as of late they don't really have many valid options.
MYM reform maybe? I can only hope!

I don't even play SC but I know enough about how hard it is that it's worth watching if you have any remote interest in it.

This is exactly what has been going on through the entire thread, and it's not the first time either.
You come to us for advice..you just spell out what you want to get, and then ask us if it is okay, and we have to explain why it isn't. That's the world upside down.. If you would just say 'hey guys, I have an X amount of money, what should I buy?' Then this would be over in 2-3 posts, not 2-3 pages.

Because you're Canadian I'll say it this way...
i'm sure the hockey is better when the stanley cup is on the line..
but hockey is more fun when there is $0 on the line...
that's why so money Canadian kids quit hockey
it just ain't fun.. its work...

Uhh... maybe for the players... maybe. But is it more fun to watch the Stanley cup, or some kids playing for fun? It's the same thing with gaming. I'd rather watch 2 pros play a serious match than just dick around.

As a Canadian Hockey player let me tell you.
Practice feels like work, but during game time. It's awesome, even if it's the playoffs and money and the final spot is on the line. It's even better, it's a huge rush, and it's so intense and awesome all at once. I'd rather play for money and for winning tournaments then just for kicks. 'Cause the tourney is great fun.

i'm Canadian and play hockey...
Canadian participation in hockey is declining...
so your anecdotal story is nice...
but overall kids are quitting hockey...
"GSS data showed that soccer has become the sport of choice for Canadian children aged 5 to 14. The game was played by about 44% of both boys and girls in this age group. Soccer was followed by ice hockey, swimming and baseball."

Does it really matter what Canadian hockey players think?
Isn't it kinda ironic that they abandon WC3, but keep DotA?

dota ftw
It was too long to read, why'd they disband the other stuff and not dota? Is dota more popular or something?

The main reason behind this as far as I understood this are financial issues. I guess Grubby and Moons wage was too high and it was not paying off (idk

Its kinda ironic that MYM started the trend of paying wc3 players more than CS teams, and now they (and the whole scene) have fallen victim to their own stupidity.
