Really the drinking age in the US is ridiculous. Drinking is one of the most taboo things there is here. Right behind Porno, drugs and gangs.(Give me a break) There aren't real problems like war killing people, we have to arrest kids and give them tickets for drinking a substance that alters your perception/coordination. In other countries where the drinking age is lower they don't have these problems because the kids are brought up with it and know how to handle themselves with it. They wouldn't go out on their 21st birthdays and get alcohol poisoning if their parents had taught them how to properly drink in moderation. Instead they're told their whole lives not to touch the stuff and all that does is make it seem dangerous, and you know there will be the teenagers who are gunna do exactly what they're told not to do.

Im just pissed because this weekend a party got busted that I was at. We thought they would'nt be aloud to come in, you know with the whole 4th amendment and shit. Most cops need a warrant to search a house but these ones were special and could do what ever they wanted. When the cops were handing out MIC's I had to go to the bathroom. They let me and when i was in there i crawled out the window and ran to my friend's house where i was staying the night. I thought i had gotten off scott free.

Later the cops knocked on his door and arrested me.

Turns the cops said to the kids at the party that they had tazered me. They said that i had been apprehended and needed to know my name and address because i was injured or something. Of course scared kids are going to tell an officer and an hour later i was in teh back of a police car riding to jail.

On a 2nd note. Jail is one of the biggest wastes of human life out there. not only that, all those fat fucking pigs take their sweet ass time filling out paper work and shit. what could have taken 2 hours lasted 13 hours as i had to stay all night in a big holding room and then a cell only to release me in the morning.

I dont think anything will be changing about underage drinking. It's not like many kids are severe alcoholics. They are really just having some fun by doing something illegal.

But it is illegal and cops have the right to give you tickets, it's just something you have to be careful about.

QQ.
Seriously.
Boo fucking hoo.
Your fault for running from them to begin with; your fault for going to a shitty party that got busted by the cops; your fault for landing your ass in jail for the night, when you could've just got a ticket thing and been done with it.
So you know what I think?
I think it's funny, if it's true.

On topic?
I don't even know what the topic was supposed to be. Legal drinking age? Isn't there already a topic on that?

I don't know why I spent the two minutes it took me to write this even doing so.

Some people here get tickets if they're caught being stupid and drinking underage out in public and stuff. But other than that.. pft, I haven't seen much.

Damn, that was hot <3

Anyways back on topic

Everyone complains about legal drinking ages, and rightly so. But there's nothing you can do about it and nothing will change. Deal with it.

Drinking related, because I drink a lot...

My first DWI I was locked up for maybe 1 hour at the local police station.

My second DWI I was locked up in county for about 5 hours.

It really depends on the station, but for my first one there as like no one else being booked and for the second I was sent to where everyone who gets arrested in the county goes, so it was a lot busier.

To be completely honest, the fact that you tried to run from the cops after attending a party where numerous people could identify you, THEN complain about getting arrested makes a good case for why the sale of Alcohol is restricted to 21+ in the US.

And actually....
In many states, you can't get in trouble if you're caught drinking under 21 in the privacy of someone's home.

Fact of the matter is, 21 is a reasonable bar to set. It restricts a large population of people who aren't mature enough to control their drinking. That being said, while many people under 21 ARE OK to drink, the majority of them aren't.

You know, my Dad tells me the drinking age used to be 18 most places when he was in HS/University. I'm guessing there was an good argument for raising it, because otherwise it's a completely arbitrary thing to pass legislation on. That's based on an assumption, but still.

The age in Canada is 19 or 18 depending on where you are in the country. It's not at all a problem.

To the OP, though much of it is your fault, it is bullshit when cops get that overzealous about enforcing certain laws. If the person kills someone, then yes, by all means track them down. If it's some kid and their crime is having a few drinks, fuck off.
If they're not hurting anyone, and aren't out in public causing a nuisance, who cares?

Stupid action on your part and..i've been drinking since lets see probably a month old. Everyone in me family when they would craddle me they would dip their fingers in vodka or cognac and stick their fingers in me mouth and i would suckle on it. I was offered things to drink by me parents the moment me concious could remember things. And i started smoking when i was 8 ( i smoke no more i stop when i was 13).

IF I MAY. BEING UKRAINIAN IS A GRAND LIFE!! And you may think that's fucked up. But hey...that is how life is over there. You learn at a young age to control w/e may be dangerous to you. Rifles, swords, arrows, knifes anything that could kill a little baby...well i was given it. I even remember i got bored and took this saw and started sawing things in the house for a good half hour before anyone even noticed. I sawed off part of the couch, a lamp, the doorway, and some other random stuff.

Actually i'm pretty surprised i surivived any of this consided how i managed to cut meself with a spoon last week....

People just have to learn how to handle it properly.

Some people are taught how to drink at an early age, being from an irish family i was one of them.

Others, like some of my friends, need to get really hammered one time and through up everything they possibly can to learn to be responsible.

I'm not going to respond to the general stupidity of the party post, but, when a house is loud as hell, it is a noise complaint, open the door to receive it, if they smell alcohol or see anything in plain sight, they can enter, probable cause.

If you can get testimony from someone about the whole lieing to get your name that may be something illegal, consult a lawyer.

I have a few questions. When you were in jail, were you with other people or was it just you in the jail cell? How long were you in Jail? How was jail? Do your parents allow you to drink liquor? If they do, just ask them to buy the liquor for you. It's completely legal.

Yeah, the liquor age is way too high. It's the highest in the world. All thanks to that cunt fest of an organization called M.A.D.D. Each and every one of its members should be shot to death. Because of them, I can't buy my wine and whiskey! Responsible and moderate drinkers like myself can't enjoy a nice glass of bourbon because some lobbying knuckleheads.

And by the way, 2 drinks of liquor a day is actually healthier than abstaining from liquor. You decrease your chances of getting heart attacks, ischemic strokes, and atherosclerosis. That's for sure. Some studies suggest that moderate drinking can improve your memory and cognition. So yeah. Drinking liquor can be good for you.

^This.

It's also fun while you're underage. Us kids like doing things we aren't supposed to do. Once people get over the age it seems they don't just "get wasted" like younger kids anymore. They just have casual drinks.

Seems like that how it is with my 18+ friends atleast, and what they've told me.

the first is only illegal if they don't open the door. You open the door, they can come in, or if they can see anything illegal through the windows.

The second is not illegal at all. They are more than allowed to lie to get you to give up information. Stupid kids need to know that they don't have to answer any questions.

Also, they didn't have to let the police take you from their house. Stupid people and actions got you arrested, not abuse of the law, not to say the police never abuse the law to get arrests.
