to tell you the truth I don't have any of his recordings but I have seen them in stores before.
I prefer to watch him perform his compositions because a good portion of what makes his music so amazing is the ideas that he comes up with for performance.
so there might be one like that but I don't have it.

damn now you are making me feel guilty for not picking up a disk of his icon_sad.gif
they are hard to find though.

well, the fact that you didn't would mean that you are more hip to his style icon_razz.gif

... I listened to the first song in the list om_pulse posted... I have to say... I hated it.

2nd I liked

3rd I didn't

couldn't be arsed listening to the rest, but that's my 2 cents.

Quick edit: as much as I didn't like 1 or 3, I'm absolutely LOVING 2...

they are the best I've heard and have yet to hear anything that even comes close
so their annoying hipster fans aside they put out amazing stuff

and to those arguing about buckethead:
what got me to respect him

I remember seeing the vid long time ago, It truly is amazing that such a traditionally trained musician could go and make something like that, but it just goes to show that experimental music isnt, as some claim, "just people making random sounds" but yea, the bucketman has very few limits, is there anything he cant do?

well tbh Zorn wrote it because it is Painkiller but still it shows he's willing to participate in something like that

Like if Buckethead started playing without the mask and acting like a normal person, would you care about him anymore?
I know I wouldn't.

He's still good.
He wouldn't be nearly as intriguing, but he'd still be good.

I may love Buckethead, but seriously, am I really the only one that doesn't understand what the fuck is going on there?
How is this even remotely listenable?
Am I that "stupid" when it comes to that?

Fuckin kids and their majors in Music Theory, I'll never understand it...

I agree. I disliked every single one of those clips om_pulse posted and i think the guy in those videos is somewhat insane.

Exactly. If Buckethead wasn't wearing the mask, it's not that he wouldn't be a bad guitar player, it's that very few people would care.

didn't that like just come out not too long ago?

I am however in the process of "obtaining" around 5 gigs of Merzbow discs (no not the merzbox I already have that). It is quite possible that it is included in there but I am not at home so I can't look

From what I can hear, it's basically just Merzbow's noise with Porn's drummer, but I haven't listened to it with headphones yet.
It's decent, not something I'd put atop my to buy list though.

Link is easy to find.

You're not alone.
I personally don't understand noise music. I can't really insult it since I'm all for creativity and open expression, but I just don't get it.

The vast majority of noise music sounds to me, roughly like my ears are getting violated by already well endowed black guys that havn't had sex in 10 year, just got a penis enlargement and downed half a kilo of viagra.

IMHO: I don't like om_pulse's music, i can say that it is VERY DIFFERENT and VERY ORIGINAL but its not my thing, no offence lol.

I still remember om_pulse when he was Black Katharsis and was all into Black Metal and those epic arguements with Corey..damn it was like Peter Griffin fighting the big chicken lol.

om_pulse: do you still listen to some Black Metal or are you just over it and listen to what you listen to now?

For the people saying " I appreciate noise as an art form, but I just dont get it" I should refer u to om's post on it:
http://forums.purepw...o...61&hl=noise

also, just remember, like most extreme and experimental genres, it is an acquired taste. I dont know anyone who just picked up a black metal or breakcore album one day and said, "wow this is amazing" their first time listening to said genres.

naahhhh
I really haven't listen to BM in a while
Still have all my old cds and I'll put on a Deathspell Omega or Satanic Warmaster but I really don't look for it anymore and I don't listen to it on a regular basis.
but don't get me wrong if you say that CoF is the greatest bm of all time I will still destroy you over it.

and for all of you saying "Black Katharsis" and "sk_pulse" i really have no idea what you are talking about but they do sound like quite interesting fellows that have impeccable musical tastes and are highly educated.
