Kara throwing is when you cancel a certain move (it's different for every character) and execute a throw. The cancel will give a certain distance to the throw, most notably, Ken's foward medium kick and throw which I think is the most useful.

So is it just a case of fast input of the throw as soon as I do the step kick? The timing seems pretty strict

Yeh it's f. MK + throw I think. I tried a kara demon on Akuma which was hard to pull off but I can do a kara throw in third strike pretty easily. I think they have like one or two frames for you to push the throw buttons.

Yeah, I was never able to do it in Third Strike, although that may just be down to the controller I used...wasn't very good for playing. I haven't played 3S since I got SFIV though...I might go back to it for a bit and see how weird it is
Also, I share your pain about sticks, Cameron, I've been trying to find one but can't get one for any reasonable amount of money. I'm assuming the manufacturers weren't ready for the huge surge of people who are suddenly interested in playing with sticks now SFIV has hit home consoles

I played against my friend, who loves the game but doesn't own it.

Trashed him 15-0 with a mixture of Sagat, Ryu, Bison and ..wow.. brainfart... uh.. american.. GUILE! That's the one.
He almost beat me when I played as Bison and Guile, I'm crap with charge move characters.

As for shit talk, I think it's acceptable to a certain degree. I bet those guys in the video had a huge argument on the Shoryuken forums or some shit LOL.

In Smash, there isn't really that much shit talk. Then again, the rivalries in Brawl are shitty, they were alot stronger in the Melee days (East vs. West was epic, now East rapes). There's a lot of "ITS MAHVEL BAYBEEE" kind of stuff that happens at tournaments though, and that's a lot more hilarious than shit talk most of the time IMO.

Oh yeah, Street Fighter topic. Yay Street Fighter.

I beat Jarett in Tetris. Once. Then he beat me four times straight. But still, I beat him once!
