I would love to see mirror's edge's freerunning mechanics combined with a game like call of duty's combat, with the gunplay and ninja-ing balanced of course.

That idea, my friend, is simply made of win. Parkour combined with FPS would be intense, it'd make it even faster paced. Imagine getting a headshot with someone running across a wall and watching them fall to their doom with a bullet through their brain. Priceless.

I'm not sure if I'm getting it, I'll probably rent it but, not sure if its worthwhile buying it. I liked the demo, but all the reviews have said its extremely repetitive. Who knows.

Well I saw it at E3 and thought it looked pretty intriguing. But reviews tell me otherwise saying the combat is bad and it gets boring and repetitive. I dunno what to think. It seems to make sense, as they said "you don't have to do the combat, you can run do ninja backflips past everything" or something like that, so the combat was inevitably going to end up tacked on.

This game looks really fun and seems like a refreshing first person game

my #1 problem is that supposedly there is only 8 to 10 hours of game play and no multiplayer

Playing the New Eden level just now; so far I'm having a blast. I was pleasantly surprised that you actually do go down to street level; I assumed the game would be taking place entirely on rooftops or in high-rise buildings.

I understand why a lot of people think the combat is pretty meh, but honestly, I'm not all that bothered. It's not really a big part of the game, and you can deal with most enemies easily.

Also, the cutscenes are some stunning shit. I would happily watch a movie done in that style.

Update: Really enjoyed it, but the ending sucks ass. Speaks to me of inevitable sequel, which I don't really like the idea of.

I am in love with this game.

The one thing I think that makes this game different from most platformers is the chase-intensive story mode. You have no time at all to make decisions during the chase sequences - you have to act as soon as you see a path, there's rarely time to think.

That being said, the game is best enjoyed when you don't make too many mistakes and just flow from one portion to the next; When you fall off a building and have to start from the last checkpoint, it's a huge bummer, it just cuts off the non-stop action. That's why it's best to run past guards instead of risking trying to beat them up.

I realized why there are numerous elevators spaced out through the levels halfway through - you NEED some pause in between the running times so you can let out that breath you've been holding in the whole time.

It's definitely a You-Love-It-or-You-Hate-It game, so rent first, and you should probably wait for the price to drop.

Currently going through the time trials ..

I played the demo last week. I thought it was fun but I wish the controls were a little more standard. It was really awkward. I've also heard that the game is short and since it's single-player only it doesn't seem like a worthwhile investment but meh, it was still fun.

What this game really needs is a completely open-world free-running mode. No objectives or anything, just a mode where you can run and jump on anything. That would be so awesome.

Instead, they just have time trials... Pff. dry.gif
