Building a new computer and wondering if these specific parts would be good and which would be better?
CPU: AMD Athlon 64x2 6400 AM2 or Intel Core 2 Duo e8400 <-- which?
90mm Aluminum fan
HDD: Seagate ST3500320AS
GFX: Gigabyte HD4850 w/ Zilman Fan
RAM: 4GB Kingston memory kit ( with 64 bit OS)
I know i may be missing some things but i need some opinions and criticism on what has been given so far. I will be using this build primarily for work/ games. My budget will be around 700-850ish USD. I'm open to any opinions or suggestions and it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

- the Intel CPU is gallons better than that AMD
- why do you list a fan, when you dont even have a case or heatsink listed? in any case, aluminum fans are often inefficient coolers, and are quite loud - they should only be used for front or side fans, for strictly aesthetic reasons
-This WD drive is $10 cheaper
-great choice in video cards. the vf1000's cool very nicely, and look pretty indeed. consider a vf900 if your goal is quiet
-so long as the RAM is 2x2gigs and not 4x1gigs, youre probably in good shape. however, Kingston makes a LOT of kits, and we cant really offer an opinion on your memory without a specific kit

kingston RAM is alwayz good
just gotta get the stuff that suits your needs, most people that's just regular DDR2-800 valueRAM, a few would be after the higher clocking hyperX series stuff
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Kingstong is awesome, there's no such thing as compatability issues with Kingston.. also, lifetime warranty.

This is exactly what has been going on through the entire thread, and it's not the first time either.
You come to us for advice..you just spell out what you want to get, and then ask us if it is okay, and we have to explain why it isn't. That's the world upside down.. If you would just say 'hey guys, I have an X amount of money, what should I buy?' Then this would be over in 2-3 posts, not 2-3 pages.

Every time someone goes against Weiman's sig I feel like they should be bludgeoned for a few minutes in the head to feel the headache I feel when I realize someone really IS that dense.
