Alright guys, here's the deal. All I want to be able to do is play consoles (mainly Wii) and use my monitor as the 'TV'. I heard what I need is called a videocapture card or something along those lines? Also, do they use a pci or pci-e slot? What is the easiest method to achieve this goal, and if all possible, where can I buy the item needed?

Apparently they do exist, but everytime i've heard of someone hooking a console to a monitor, they go straight from the console to the monitor

there are both PCI as well as PCI-e options available. if you want to receive TV, then a tuner card like lowkee linked to is what you need.
however, if all you want to do is play consoles, this is an overly complicated method, which may even introduce latency that makes the games unplayable. have you considered, for instance, a composite video -> vga adaptor?

How much would this adapter cost? Examples? How does it work? I won't be able to actually record whats happening will I though?

You can get 24" Dell Monitors with Multiple Inputs. or get a cheap video switcher and a conversion to vga?

Those particular Dell monitors are expensive as hell, a TV would be cheaper..
