the issue I had with the nunchuck+wiimote was you lose out on your C-Stick, which makes the game easier to play in low level play, and is required for some advanced techniques.

I really enjoy this game and I believe that it lived up to its expectations, but I also believe that the online mode should not even have been included. First off it barely works, and when it does work, it is very laggy. I also have a problem with online multiplayer with some games, because this is one of those party games where you and a friend get together and mess each other and hang out. I believe that online multiplayer kills the whole social factor to games.

Because we all know on the inside, that there is something flawed with it. The question is: What?
Lack of hitstun, piss easy infinites, no L-canceling and Snake.
Don't get me wrong, I do love brawl and tbh it's a FAR better game than melee for playing free for all matches with items on and on silly stages when you've got friends who like it but don't play competitively. Brawl has nothing on melee when inb terms of how it works as a competitive game but what it does have only goes to piss off the melee fans more because the game plays nothing like melee on a high level (even though I bet half the people in this thread who complaing about it not being fast enough weren't near good enough to go pro with melee and get recognised), there's far more spacing and repeated approach/retreat that you have to play until one player makes a mistake and the other can punish them and by punish I don't mean get anywhere near killing them. Unless you're metaknight you get one hit that knocks them out of range of anything else before you're back to the approach/retreat spacing (oh and then of course there's snake who just kills you outright with an Ftilt). But if you think about it, some people enjoy that play and the rest of us, hell, we aren't even going to get near that good so you can still play it competitively with your friends (I know I do) and enjoy it.
Oh and Here's a couple of screenshots to explain why snake is so horribly broken:

I think that says it all.

The reason you can't beat Snake is because you're stupid.
Everytime I play a match be it in person or Wifi I always get the same damn complaint: "Snake is so broken, I can't beat Snake."
If you or someone you know makes this complaint, they're just not a smart Brawl player. I'll explain why:
1) Ftilt, OMFG 21%?!
This is one of the most common complaints, the ftilt. Many people get hit by it and think "OMFG! That **** is too good and the range. GOOD GOD!" I have news for you, if you're a really good player, you can predict when a Snake player is going to ftilt and just shield it and spot dodge the 2nd hit and punish for the lag. But guess what? People that complain about it are really dumb because they can never predict a Snake player's ftilt and always get hit by it. No wonder I'm getting it lowered to 12% from decay, it's because you have no mind games.
2) Utilt, RANGE AND KILLS?! WTF!!
One of the most common complaints as well, the utilt. I'll just put it simply, if you're in a certain % where a utilt can easily kill you, EXPECT A UTILT TO COME. I hate when people say, "that damn utilt kills at such low %." You're just incredibly stupid, a move that kills 110%+ is not that low. If you're in range of getting killed, it's really that simple: DONT GET HIT. Learn to predict your damn opponent instead of complaining.
3) Mortar Slide, "LOL Wavedash don exits."
The snakedash, or mortar slide, or whatever the eff you wanna call it. You should all already know this, but when Snake mortar slides, the upsmash usually ends up dropping behind Snake. If you think someone is going to approach with a mortar slide, throw a projectile in his face or if you're marth, how 'bout spacing your aerials or just forward smash him? Besides, the mortar slide as a common approach isn't that good anyway since it's punishable. Most people only use it anyway to close distance and to provide some kind of "edgeguarding." I use it in quotes since edgeguarding is just retarded in Brawl, it doesn't exist.
4) Grenades, 12%!? That's BS!
I'll just keep this short. Camp the damn Snake. If he throws the nade immediately, try grabbing it and throwing it back at him or if he's timing the explosion, learn to spot dodge. Of course, the best method is if he's camping you. CAMP HIM BACK! Just that simple.....
Anyways, in short, I wrote this because I was really tired of people complaining about Snake. If you have any sense of prediction/mind games, you should be able to beat Snake like any other character. Stop complaining that it's because someone is playing Snake that you're losing. I'm a mediocre/crap player at best, and people always ***** about me picking Snake. You didn't lose because I picked Snake, you're just incredibly stupid and suck more than me at this game. The End.
P.S.: Camping works on all characters, INCLUDING Snake. Who cares if someone complains, camping is a strat, use it!

My point however, was not how imba snake or whoever is, but that Brawl is the type of game that simply cannot be reviewed in less than 4 A4 pages.
If I had time and patience I'd write an essay on brawl and I'm pretty sure taht if I sent that in somewhere - I'd get free shit. Anyone who has done English GCSE can write a good essay on a game. :
I just think that brawl... is fun. That's what it's meant to be. Aren't games supposed to be for fun? So... yeah some characters are "over powered" but at least they are all different. The only thing that really annoys me about brawl are the frequency of the items. They practically built the whole game around the smash ball, which makes me wonder WTF kind of games the Japanese are currently into. I mean... HOW did Sakurai think that was a good idea?!?
In terms of competetive fighters... wait for SF IV, or stick to SF III.

I beat Jarett in Tetris. Once. Then he beat me four times straight. But still, I beat him once!

Not to bash on your review or anything, but I'm simply going to throw my opinion out there.
I was really looking forward to Brawl. I was really into Melee, even got into the competitive scene. To make a long story short, Brawl fucking sucks and Melee is amazing.
Other than that, good review, but I disagree about the SSE, too repetitive and tedious.

somehow I doubt that jarret will have liked the way the competitive style of the game has changed from faced paced combo opportunities to spam and spacing games before single hits but you never know, it might be there.
