Ok lets clear this up. Your all fucking faggots for coming here and spending your day trying to workout a decent argument to flame eachother with ( the ones that are) so shut the FUCK UP.

Now back to what the freaking thread was about. BLizzard did NOT "Have it polished off the bat" thats a load of crap. World of Warcraft is remembered for being almost unplayable in early patch stages, So stfu, its like AOC is now.

Darkfall in my opinion probly is waiting for the other games (WAR etc) to come out, for WOTLK to come out etc etc because if they brought it out now it would be very, VERY bad timing.

EVE kicks WoW's ass ten times over and then leans over and spits on it. I played WoW for about 3 years in a whole, from beta till a month before TBC came out then lingered around about a year after TBC came out then quit again, so it's not like I'm talking out of my ass.

So you played the game for 3 years...intresting, that has to be a really crappy game then.

It's only logical you flame WoW, you have to justify your choice to yourself.

Also like i said many times before, WoW and EVE are 2 very diffrent games, and together they just about cover all the aspects of an MMO. Either your into standard MMO's, in wich case WoW is the best, or your into a diffrent kind of MMO, trading, building etc, then EVE is the best choice.

Got that out of your system? Now take a look, and consider "hey, did this little tantrum help anything?"

Nobody ever said blizz had the game polished right off the bat, so your point is what?

The last part is just not true tough. Sure it wasn't anywhere near what it is today, but it wasn't unplayable, and atleast it was a complete game.

See unlike AoC, you are able to reach max level, whilst having content to play. AoC runs out of content at around level 40, wich is really ridiculous because you can go on to 80. See, besides the fact that AoC is very bugged and unbalanced (being killed by someone 10 levels lower), it's simply not a complete game. It's really as if they released half a game.

Yes, your opinion, but fact is, your not in the dev team (if there is one).

Fact is, this game has been in development for over 10 years, and people are still waiting for the Beta that was promised to them, and omg hold me, it's coming out in 2-3 months.

But hang on, that's weird...When i was on that site 3 years ago, they also promised me a beta that would arrive in 2-3 months. They keep making promises they they can NEVER keep, and they are not showing any results at all.

But with big promises, they can keep people intrested, and the more people stay intrested, the more people visit the site and the more profit they can make off their adds.

Your being played, and they are loving it. It's been 10 years, you shouldn't give this game a 2nd look until there is an actual beta out. It's nothing more then vapour-ware and your being suckerd into it.

Zal, to answer your questions:

QUOTE
My brother and I were in Greece visiting family and I contacted Tasos months earlier about stopping by. I had set the date between some island hoping knowing we would be going into Athens for a few days. I didn't want to keep bothering them so a few days before I left I verified things were still set and Tasos said it was a go. I got up early that morning wanting to call and get in as soon as we could but I didn't want to call to early.

Tasos picked up right away and after I told him who I was and making sure everything was set I got a long pause and he said well now is not a good time. I thought oh shit here we go I can't wait to blast his ass right now. I was getting ready to run down to an internet cafe and post what bullshit it was. He told me around noon would be better but we couldn't stay long.... Again I was getting really pissed but I thought I would wait till noon. I already had the address and phone number so around noon we decided to just go on over

Taos told us all the directions we needed to get there. The only problem is no fucking cab driver wanted to take us there. Half of them didn't know where it was and the others said it wasn't worth it to drive us. Now we both had our wives with us and we just figured we would ditch them when we got into the studio. They started nagging the shit out of us right about now about how we dragged them down there and we weren't going to see shit. Being the real Greek that I am I said "Bitch you better get back on your goat and go to your moms house, I don't need this in the middle of my Darkfall visit" Finally we found a cab driver to take us there!

Enough of the story filler I know what all you bitches ants so here we go.

We get in and are greeted by Tasos. He takes us to his office and tells us they had just recently moved to this location because they were expanding. At the moment they had the second floor and were taking over the third. The game is legit and it is fully functional. I mean everything is there. None of this horse shit that other games are promising is in a game and then they tell us they will patch it or it's coming in the expansion. We saw any and everything castle building, crafting, ships, ship combat, PvP system and more.

When we walked into Tasos office we saw the game up. On the way in you also saw a lot of people working on the game. I would say they had at least 20 people out there working that day. The game has a lot to offer if you are old school like me and Vaprak are. It has so much of UO that it makes me want to shed a tear of joy. It seems to have a lot of new things out there too and I cant claim them as being copied because there is no way they could get this into a game with such detail as it is.

Here's a quick breakdown of some of the questions we asked and things they showed us. By the way there was a huge developer who came in during the whole visit and showed us most of this. I am fucking sorry I cant spell his name but it starts with an S

No Stealth - the only way you have stealth is wearing non shiny armor and hiding in a shadow. Or wearing dark armor (leather or whatnot). None of this stealth and sneak up to backstab you shit, but if you cross a tree and in the shadow is someone who just ganked your ass, all is good.

No pet system - They said fuck pets and fuck those things chasing you across the whole damn world while the guy sits back and does jack.

Alignment system - basically just like UO with the chaos and honor shrines and all. Depending on your alignment that will determine where you can rez. You can always rez in your player city no matter what your alignment. But if you are chaos you will only be able to rez at chaos shrines. (We know where camps spots will be haha) Forget about going into main cities if you are evil alignment.

Skills and caps - OK, here is where they have UO with a twist. You can have as many skills as you use and the cap is at 100. Now it doesn't actually stay at 100. They told us that when you reach the 100 point mark you get a super ability. (Like an enhanced offensive spell or a big ass heal) Once it is used you drop your skill back down to 99 (or 99.9 I'm not sure if they are using the decimal system) It's not an easy thing to get your skills up and they will be cracking down hard on anyone macroing. There is somewhere between 500-700 skills we didn't get a specific number.

City system - This seems to be a very cool it takes a lot of AoC and makes it so much better. This is where I say there is no way this could be copied because the detail they have for this system isn't something you make in a day. If you ask me it seems like AoC tried to copy them. You can create your own political system. Who pays tributes, who can enter the city who can shop at your vendors, mayors, penalties and so on. When you siege a town you can only destroy one building per day. I like this and I don't. I guess it's good for people who don't have a city and they just want to take one over. But if you have a city and you just want to destroy one it can take a while. BUT could take one over and sell it to a group who needs one. Now the guard situation I am not 100% sure if I understood this right so don't blame them if I get this wrong. I think there will be no guards. You can create guard towers that will have range and can attack enemies of the town. You can also kick the city guild leader if he is not doing his part. I think they have to fulfill a certain quota or they can be ousted. This also keep people from just setting a newb as the guild city leader. (My damn wife took off with my paper and pen so I am pulling this part from memory)

Wonders - Scattered throughout the land there will be certain relics/wonders that will give benefits to whoever holds them. There are a limited number and there is no doubles. It is possible for one guild to hold all the wonders/relics if they are found. We didn't get any detailed information on what the actually buffs would be.

PvP - Here is where it gets interesting. There is no safe AoE spell or melee combat. If you swing your big ass 2H sword at an enemy and your group is on top of him they are getting hit too. If you use an AoE spell in the middle of a group and your guys are there they are getting nuked too. This works for friendly spells as well. If you are casting a big ass Heal AoE for your group and your enemies are in the middle of that fight they are getting healed. This makes no difference if you are grouped, guilded, same race, or gay lovers. This is where skill will definitely come into play. Flanking and rear attacks will also do more damage. They have collision so you won't be running through guys to get behind them either. We got to play some PvP and watch some. While Tasos and Big S were in the room showing us a character we saw a big orc start shooting us with a bow. It was cool because you could see the arrows flying at you and when they stuck you know what direction they came from. Big S I can tell is a total gamer freak. He was trying to be polite to us for a second but I saw him typing to the other guy to fuck off and I think he was about to leave the room and go kick whoever's ass.

Transportation - I should have asked a little more here but I thought we were limited on time so I was just spamming questions for a little bit. There will be racial mounts (but anyone can ride other races mounts) Boats, and Recall Runes (UO style). You can kill someone and take their mount (I think... another one of those times where I didn't write it down) Boats are just like it was in UO. You carry the little miniature of the boat on you and you got to a spot of water and place it (more on this in a minute). Recall runes (not what they called them but I will) you have to go to the location and mark it. Then you can recall to that location from the rune. You will lose these if you are killed.

Boats - God I love this part. Like I was saying about carrying the little miniature and placing it in water to raise your boat. I saw rafts, skimmers, and war ships but you just can't summon the big boats in a pond. It checks for depth before you can place a ship. (by the way be careful when you leave town with the ship if you die someone just got a new ship) I actually got to run around on the boats and shoot the cannons. (Thank you to the beautiful Russian bombshell!! I won't give her name out because I know there are a lot of freaks out there. When did programmers get so hot I thought they looked like the giant we were dealing with) This could turn out to be a lot of fun. You could possibly have a guild controlling the seas. If you get on a large enough warship and have the guild mount the cannons (there are a ton of canons on the large ships that can each be mounted) you could tear through the whole sea and control it.

Day/Night timers - A whole day runs through 5 hours actual playing time. You can set up ambushes according to when you have shade to hide behind. Or know when it's safe to travel during daylight if you have some shit you don't want to lose.

Dungeons - Yes, there will be dungeons and yes they are instanced. Guess what though, everyone gets the same instance! So please go PvE and kill the big boss that way you can have a shitload of people/guilds chasing you before you even finish to get that cool new item.

Paperdoll - UO style plus new MMO style. You have the bags just like UO used to be but you can see item slots and whatnot. You have your usual slots plus neck and multiple ring slots. I want to say I saw 6 but I don't actually remember how many there were.

Spells - lots and lots and lots of spells. While we didn't get a lot of time to play with the spells this list is huge. It didn't even cross my mind to ask how wearing armor would affect the spell casting, but the person we were using had more than just leather armor on.

Sieges/Guild City Fights - Like AoC where you declare a war on a city but it takes a certain amount of time before the siege can actually begin. This gives both attackers and defenders time to get people ready.

This is all I can think of right now. I really would like to thank Tasos and the Darkfall team for letting us come visit. They said they only had a little bit of time but we were there for over 2 hours and I think they would have let us stay longer but they had real press and financial visitors there they had to attend to.

Here's a bit of bad news for the Americans though. We probably won't get to play this game till after the Euros do. While the dollar is getting the shit kicked out of it American publishers can't compete with the Euro. Let's say the Americans want to offer the them $100k for publishing end result is it's about 50k. Now the Euros could offer them 60k and still be ahead.

The game was fully functional and they were all playing it plus developing. They have had large battles to test stuff and have testers form other countries. Now I know this number is VERY small and I don't think there will be a big beta opening for users to test. This is where I think there should be. Not because everyone wants to play but I can tell you from the shit AoC just pulled by not having a big test and totally fucking the game when people paid and it wasn't working. Granted they have had this game working for some time there really needs to be some outside testing and big stress testing for large battles and all that jazz.

They did say without a doubt it would be out this year. I just don't think the Americans will have it by then.

Before I left I said I want a bunch of free stuff. I got a handful of T-Shirts but I won't pose and show pics of those you fucking pervs

One gets to visit the fabled development studio of legends and he doesn't take his photo camera along...ooh hang on, he did have a camera but just didn't bother, but atleast we know he COULD have taken a picture of the T-shirts if he wanted.

This just proves how much bullshit vapour-ware this really is. Some stupid long text with nothing but promises, and sure as hell no way to prove that it wasn't just a dev that posted it.

I sure am glad he posted the adress of the dev studio tough...ooh hang on...

It's good to hear that a "company" that has no releases at all and nobody supporting them with even a single dollar is expanding, always great when they pull money out of their arse.

Funny how Wow has it's own section on the Pure Pwnage forums, yet they still have to come in here and take threads way off topic... One thing I've noticed about Wow players, they think they're better than everyone and won't accept any other game <.<

Looking forward to DarkFall, have been for about 5 years, lol. Some of the ideas they mention just make it sound too good to be true, which may be case... Hope we do eventually get something to play with icon_razz.gif Till then I'm not gonna hold my breath.

btw.... does Dricod spell based on sounding the words out? I think I lowered my IQ by reading his posts...

oh, and EVE is the greatest of all the MMO's mentioned so far ^^ (figured i'd throw it in there icon_razz.gif)

Yep, and it has everything a REAL pvp enthuisiast (sp?) would desire in an MMO.

Completely open PvP.
Naval Warfare.
Mounted Combat.
Build player cities.
Destroy player cities.
Full body looting.
No levels, instead you raise skills. No situation where a level 70 instantly defeats a level 65 because of level.
Mixture of RPG and FPS. Manual aiming and blocking.
True AOE -> Your spells don't just hit your enemies, but everyone in that area.
Characters can be pushed/blocked in real time-> adds more strategy in group PvP than in any other MMO to date.

Sure its been a long time coming, and the graphics will not be as good as WoW or AoC (WAR's graphics were really shitty in Beta2 and Beta3, but they always claimed it would be "better on live". We'll have to see)...but Darkfall has the gameplay elements of a perfect PvP MMO, so if you truly want to ditch WoW for WAR because of PvP, do yourself a favor and play WoW and Darkfall. You'll get the best PvE has to offer and the best PvP has to offer...

Also, Diablo 3 is going to rock =P But thats a different field altogether.

Warhammer does this?

Also lol @ naval combat
What came first, the spamming or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids reading thousands, literally thousands of posts about anime, 4chan, flaming, goatse and emos. Did I make terrible posts because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I made terrible posts?

Darkfall does it better. You can physically block spells, arrows, etc that are intended for your squishies, or simply dodge them altogether.

Also, re: Naval Warfare...what game have you played where you can design and build ships, carry your guild towards another navy and cannon their asses to death. Or ferry a group of PvP characters towards an enemy's seaside city...

Why would you lol? The gameplay ideas in Darkfall are amazing =/

It amuses me when people assume that someone in a raiding guild with a high pvp rating is instantly bad at all games =P

Seriously, if you're a good gamer and willing to put time into anything, you're going to be good at anything... If you seriously think WoW takes no skill, go get a 2000 rating. Go defeat Vashj, Kael'thas, Teron Gorefiend, Illidan, Brutalllus and Kil'Jaeden.

I'm so tired of hearing lame excuses from bad gamers. "waah class balance, waaah random number generator, waaaaaaah this game takes no skill." Hilarious. Keep them coming noobs.

Have fun with WAR, but don't assume its better than WoW. Maybe later content patches will push the game further, but at this point in time the game just isn't as good. Its nothing compared to WOTLK, and if you're in to PvP, save yourself the $40 and wait for Darkfall Beta.

Wow, just wow.

YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT A GAME THAT'S BEEN IN DEVELOPMENT FOR YEARS AND WHO'S RELEASE DATE HAS BEEN PUSHED BACK SO MUCH, IT WAS CONSIDERED VAPORWARE

It has good ideas, but every MMO has good ideas.
It's all in the execution.

Once again, the IDEAS are amazing.
But most likely, it's going to fail simply because they are trying to force all these ideas into their game and never master any of them.

It's the same with any game that tries to do too much.
Instead of focusing on one or several aspects on the game and make it great, they focus on many and make them mediocre at best.

Just look at AoC for a game with good ideas, shitty execution.

Good? It'll never get released and if it does. It will be bad.

Why? It's been in development so long, the engine will be ancient. It will look like ass, play like ass, and have nothing good in it. There will be SO SO SO SO many bugs in the game it will be horrible. You can't with a team that small do anything as "huge" as they are proposing. Especially considering how fucking epic the lag will be, there wont be any servers who can handle it and the game will be brutal because of the lag. You really expect the game to have perfect netcode, for an MMORPG? Rofl, especially with things like manual aiming and blocking. That would be worse then any RNG ever. Why? LAG.

This is one minor piece to the huge puzzle of DARKFAIL. Why the game is bound to fail immediately if it's ever launched.

I could think of a game and start myself producing a fucking awesome game, in theory. People would hail it as the second coming of Christ, ect. It doesn't matter apparently if people are completely blind as to how impossible it would be for me to make said game. Just aslong as I promise them rediculously cool things. If I made the price of the game a blowjob for me, I guarentee you those people would instantly drop to their knees and smile like a doughnut. It's retarded.

My point, has been made.

I was asking for one. I was curious to see what you have to say. I mean, the team making the game is absolutely tiny. Miniscule. I'd love to know how a team as small as Aventurine can create a game that not even Blizzard can create. Or even another company with infinitely more support, funding and people to work with the game.

Because there is money in catering to casuals, and Blizzard will ALWAYS follow that path. Adventurine is creating THE pvp game for hardcore pvp gamers. The type of gamer that enjoys playing with a real guild and building a city. Its a select group of individuals who enjoy the hardcore ruleset (i.e. open PVP, open looting, destruction of cities and homes, etc). Adventurine is not in the market of throwing a WoW clone (read: Warhammer Age of Reckoning) with a slight variance and reaping the rewards. They are all about creating an amazing PvP game that gamers will love.

Darkfall is not competing with WoW. It has little interest in PvE (similar to other PvP-oriented games). If Blizzard WANTED to make a hardcore PvP game, they would. But they don't want to do that. It doesn't have the cash potential of a casual-driven game. Darkfall will not make Adventurine billions, but with a user-base large enough to support it (100k-1million+), it will be a successful project, and a great MMO PvP alternative to those who are tired sick of Battlegrounds/RvR (which are in essence, the same damn thing) and Arenas. There are NO current games on the market that support player/guild cities, player/guild fortresses that can be raided and brought down, and nothing near the scale of gameplay that Darkfall offers...well, EVE maybe, but thats an entirely different type of game (and holy fuck is it boring... =/)

You can't proclaim a development team to be a failure based on size. Look at the game Narbacular Drop. It was built by students and caught the eye of Valve. A couple years later, the concept was improved to become Portal, and that was built by no more than a couple dozen programmers. And Portal is lauded as one of the greatest games of all time. Darkfall has been in development forever, and has changed graphics engines on more than one occasion. Yes: the game will not be as visually impressive as other MMO's, but who gives a shit? WoW and WAR both have "average" graphics. Darkfall's gameplay looks perfect for the hardcore PvP'er, and as anyone (other than noobs) knows: Gameplay > Graphics, always!

Please take the time to read this post, and respond with something other than "it will lag, suck and look terrible", because your unfounded opinion on a yet-to-be-released game,; stated without looking at any facts about the game in question...its simply a waste of my time.

edit: Just checked wikipedia on Portal, it states "and no more than ten people were involved with its development", so it appears my "couple dozen" statement was exaggerated. However this just furthers my point: a small development team does not = failure.

edit2: I do love what WoW does with PvE, they are definitely the best PvE team on the market. And PvP Arena is pretty solid as well (2300 s3 rogue), and is especially competitive at higher levels. What I dislike about current gen PvP (i.e. BG's / RvR) is the lack of accomplishment. You hop into a BG or RvR and win, receive your points/xp/loot....and thats it. You didnt just fuck up another guild and take a shit on their city, reducing it to rubble...you won an instance of a game that 50 other people are doing at the exact same time. When you lose, you just lose a game. You don't lose your carefully crafted city, no, you just shrug it off and requeue for BG's/RvR...and thats just fucking lame. Maybe I'm too hardcore, but by darnit, fucking peoples cities up and roaming around, being the true lords of the land...thats pretty sick shit.

Total flame fest going on in here.

I was reading through the 1st page of posts with all the negative comments. Made me lol. The game is out, it's doing well and reception has been really good. Vaporware? Pffft.

Obviously, it's nothing near the popularity of say, WoW but that's not surprising considering WoW is the MMO industry.

I can't wait to play this one. It's like Oblivion + Mount&Blade + WAR. Looks tasty (and from what I've been reading) is tasty.

Also, love the pic noobage. I tweeteritted it icon_smile.gif

Please link where the reception has been good.

I haven't heard any reviews from any major source, and even barely from independent writers.
What I have heard were the massive complaints the first couple of days.

Guess I'm not a REAL PVP enthusiast because I don't like losing all my shit when I die. I might try the game if not for that silly little bit.
