Okay so I was watching "Duty Calls" the other day and I got to the part where Jeremy orders breakfast and sees that he orders bacon. But I notice that he just said "bacon" and was given to him, regular bacon. But then I thought "Well Jeremy lives in Canada, shouldn't he been served Canadian bacon?" Is Canadian bacon the standard bacon in Canada or do you have to ask for it specifically like in the U.S.? When is the appropriate meal for Canadian bacon, maybe if you ask for bacon in Canada during breakfast you get regular bacon but during lunch or dinner you would get Canadian bacon?
As a fellow bacon enthusiast I would really like to know. =P

I don't want to know where my bacon comes from. It could come from the flabby thighs of my nan for all I care. Bacon is awesome regardless of where it came from.

Canadian bacon is a joke played on americans, as I didn't even know what Canadian bacon was until I went to California. Here we call it back bacon.

All of those rumors of you being gay are true?
Everyday before classes me and my roommate would go to the cafeteria and get nothing but a plate of bacon, now I don't eat breakfast at all.

This is exactly what has been going on through the entire thread, and it's not the first time either.
You come to us for advice..you just spell out what you want to get, and then ask us if it is okay, and we have to explain why it isn't. That's the world upside down.. If you would just say 'hey guys, I have an X amount of money, what should I buy?' Then this would be over in 2-3 posts, not 2-3 pages.

Quoted for great justice!
The thing with Canadian Bacon is that in Canada they just call it ham. If you order a pizza and ask for Canadian Bacon they'll look at you sideways.
"Canadian Bacon" is created by Americans to make ham sound more interesting.

Ham and Canadian Bacon are not the same thing.
What Canadian Bacon is was already explained in this thread.
Though...
QUOTE
Ham is the thigh and rump of pork, the haunch of a pig or boar.
In the United States, back bacon is called Canadian-style bacon or Canadian bacon but this term refers usually to the lean ovoid portion. What the US terms Canadian bacon is actually back bacon rolled in cornmeal. In Canada it is called peameal bacon, whereas bacon is used generally to refer to strip bacon, which is more common to the Canadian diet.
