the germans had 3 fronts on which they fought, while the soviet union throwed almost the whole population of russia and eastern europe at them and still almost lost. Also the Alied won the war, not the soviet union alone. There is a point where you can zerg someone, but not if you have vastly infernior weaponry, you need atleast air supiority, so your trops don't get bombed.

Because the people that run the country aren't monsters and i dont think even bush would commit the biggest war crime in history. You're talking about starving an entire nation, would you be able to live with yourself knowing that you had caused the death of mollions of innocent poeple? Because they would be the ones that died, not the army. That is quite possibly the most horrific idea i've heard of (excepting holocaust).

the US already did it in WW2, every major german city was basicly reduced to ruins, I think dresden took the major hit when over 90% of the city got destroyed, also most of the bombing in the last months of the war war horebly overdone targeting citys that had no real military importance just to break germany 2 or 3 months sooner. And then we ofcourse got the 2 nuclear bombs. So yeah it did hapen, you seem to forget that in a total war scenario most rules of war and human morale are the first to get throwed out straight through the window.

no, most russian tanks were way better then their german counterpart up till the Tiger also the part that the germans got no winter gear in the first winter cripled them, oh and the part that they had to fight on the western front, africa and against rebelions all over Europe. Numbers only work if there are other factors to your advantage, what do ground numbers bring you if you can't establish dominance in air enabeling the enemy to bomb your troops the whole day, what do numbers help you if you can't establish naval dominance meaning the enemy is geting a steady flow of suplies. While his bombers are cutting of your suply lines. You may have a milion soldiers, but a milion soldiers that are hungry, under constand bombardment and witout ammo won't do you any good against 10.000 soldiers.

Take the winter war in finland for example, the fins were heavely outnumbered yet they have beaten the whole soviet army back, or take the israels when almost the whole middle east descended upon them and they had to fight on basicly 3 fronts heavely outnumbered yet they still managed to beat the invading armys back.

You dont win war by throwing soldiers wave after wave against the enemy and hope that they will sooner or later defeat the enemy. Thats why Russians lost Winter war, and why they never conquere whole of Finland.

Americans have superior Air and Sea force. They dont have to face Chinas infantry untill they are sure that they will win.

Ok but numbers are just part of the equation. China is quickly turning into the largest economy in the world and their military spending is rising to meet it. Given time the Chinese could improve their forces to a high standard. Particularly with so many friendly neigbours eager to share technology and the U.S's short sighted tendency to sell all their own. They could quite easily be the biggest and one of the best equipped armies around.

And no the U.S. could not stop themselves being bombarded. There is no 100% effective way of stopping ICBM's or nuclear submarines. A Chinese submarine can stealthily enter U.S. waters and fire before the U.S. navy even has time to react. Bam nukes are dropping and the chinese have their retaliation.

Actually, with the amount of spy satellites that the US has I doubt there is a secret left above ground or in the ocean that the US doesn't know about.

you don't need to know were it is in real time, just were it is going in retrospect to the last photograph, then they can analyze the movements and determine what the course or what have you.

and on top of that the US has most of its nuclear arsenal on submarines itself.

It all depends on the war and the circumstances but at least having all those ICBM's is a bargaining card in the negotiations to come.
