It's called studio foam

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the wallpaper on the computer screen (13thirtyseven), not the foam on the walls.

I spy with my little eye, the case off on the side of that rig. Generally that is very bad for airflow and will not help your temps as much as good airflow in a closed case.

Most people that see this won't really appreciate what they're looking at. Clearly you're no longer strapped for cash, however. I also amalgamated my studio system into my gaming system as opposed to having two machines, one dedicated for each purpose. Nice pre that you decided not to mention, by the way. Looks like your mic is missing, though. Again, most people won't even realise that, even now, that alone is worth well over $2000 or £1500.

With Large Diaphram Condensor mics it's good to keep them in a case or box when not plugged in because the caps will collect dust and moisture which can be potentially harmful to the capsule. A local studio I work out of had a Lawson L47 and a Neuman M 147 taken out because of this in one week.

Do you suppose that would be necessary for my Rode NT1A? I would think not considering it does not compare to the grade of mics that you are referring to. I leave it permanently set up and it has come to no harm thus far.

I would recomend just taking the mic out of its shock mount and putting it away when you are done with it. No damage may have come yet but it's still not good for the mic. When you switch phantom power on the mic should "clense" itself if i remember correctly. Leaving a mic out one night wont hurt you, it comes from being left out over time so just be weary of it.
