Aye..someone said it earlier.. "welcome to pop-culture"
1337 speak is now a part of the everyday mans dialogue... and they are completely ignorant of the words/terms and their origins.

I can personally attest to this... In the factory where i work..the place is full of employees that have worked there 10 - 20 years.
As one of the few "net savy" employees there, i started slinging around the word "n00b" as a title for all the new hires that came through the door. At first every person whom I uttered it around had to laugh and ask me what I just said...well after about 1 or 2 years of conditioning, I now have every employee at my shop using the word "n00b" in their everyday dialogue where properly needed...same goes for the words, "leet","pwn/ed" and, "uber".
Granted they may not know the origins of the terms, but they use them just the same.
...I consider it my contribution to the degradation of thousands of years of evolutionary human linguistics to make all things 1337.

So.. it unfortunately has become quite trendy in general society and particularly for people in managerial positions to adopt internet lingo or 1337 speak as a way of "fitting in" with their peers. So as to say, "See I'm hip, I'm cool, I'm just like you, theres no reason for you to distrust me"....which gives me all the more reason to distrust them. LoL.
...1337 speak has been a trendy underground thing for hackers and gamers for decades. Now it is just beginning to leach it's way into the everyday mans way of communicating.

One thing is for sure though...Pure Pwnage truly Pwn's the HalfLife engine based community..for one not to know who FPS-Doug is, or where the coined phrase, "Boom Headshot!" comes from...is to truly be a n00b to the environment.... so go easy on 'em aight...
Dont just go out there and headshot 'em... Give 'em an arm shot, maybe a leg shot or two...dont just pwn 'em up. At least give 'em a fighting chance.... They are after all only n00bs and are of no real threat to you...right?

hmm, couldn't say the sprays were unexpected. Gd nonetheless.
The "boom headshot!" phrase was certainly around before it was uttered by fps_doug, very rare in occurance though, so this shouldn't be something which is an impossible feat without the existence of the phrase on this show, however I'm assuming there may have been some influence on him from other fans of the show.
