As the title suggests, I'm looking for an RPG. Something that'll really get me involved enough in the game to keep me going for hours on end. I need something to do whilst I've not got access to the internet and let's face it, going through every COD single player over and over gets boring icon_razz.gif

I'm looking for an RPG that's sorta like something you'd get online. Y'know, plenty of character choices, the ability to customise your character, get new gear, weapons, etc. and train your character to a certain class like a Wizard or Warrior.

I don't mind how long or short it is, as long as it's fun. Don't care how old or new it is either.

I looked at a few other threads and the games people are talking about getting are things like The Witcher, Gothic, NWN, KOTOR, etc.

I googled a few of them and they don't look too bad really. Just looking for a second opinion. Also, is Fable: The Lost Chapters a continuation of the Xbox version? I've never played the original so it'd be a waste of time getting TLC if it's practically an expansion.

Thanks!

TLC adds endgame and maybe a few hours of extras but if you have played the original (which you haven't) it would be a waste but if your completely new to it its quite fun cept after endgame there isn't much to do cept storm towns and stuff.

Also if you want something really indepth and customisable then Oblivion would be a good choice.

Yeah, pretty much any elder scrolls games sounds like what you are looking for.

You should give Dark Messiah Might and Magic a look to icon_wink.gif

Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion...or Morrowind if you don't mind slightly dated graphics, since it is way better)
KOTOR is a good choice...
I enjoyed NWN2 quite a bit as well...
I hear the Witcher is also good but haven't played it for myself.

The first three will keep you busy and joyful though.

Hellgate London is a great game to play with a few people, especially if you're a Diablo fan.

Absolutely. The game has a great story, fairly fast paced combat, and if your into star wars at all you'll love it. Just don't do something silly and read the wiki and spoil it for yourself.

Surprised no one said it yet.. Mass Effect. If you're looking for a game that you can really get involved in, then Mass Effect is that game. The cut scenes are more fun than the action. (Only slightly)

By the way, m3ds.. love the avatar - No More Heroes FTW!

Ab-so-fuckin-lutely.

Both of them if you can icon_smile.gif

I recommend to both of ya.

If you've got a 360 I heard Mass Effect was good, also pick up Jade Empire icon_smile.gif

Ultima 7: The Black Gate and Ultima 7: The Serpent Isle (circa 1992).

Thoroughly dated graphics and you have to download a windows front-end called "Exult" to get it running (This game is so old, it came with it's own DOS memory manager). It takes a bit of tinkering to get sound working properly, but it's worth it.

This game swallowed huge amounts of my time when I was 12 years old, and I still come back to it and play through it every couple of years.

Disclaimer: Be prepared for 4fps and 320x240 res. If you can swallow that, you are in for the most amount of dialogue and hours in any RPG ever made for it's time. At a whopping 30 megs of HD space, it took up 75 % of my HD space when I installed it on my first rig.

Greatest PC RPG is Fallout 2. Might be hard to find, and with todays games the graphics will probably annoy you, but it's worth it. You can go through the game with 2 intelligence, and all your dialog options are grunts, hisses, and gestures.

I'll also second the Ultima recommendation. I never finished Black Gate, but like every Ultima, it's really good. My personal fav is 4, quest of the avatar.

I'd definitely look into Oblivion if your into the sword and board sort of thing. Mass Effect if your into the space thing, but if you can stand a bit worse graphics go for KOTOR, the game is just fucking boss in every aspect. Fable TLC, as mentioned just had Fable + extra content. Its a good game but it wont last more than a week, however I'd argue that the combat in it is some of the most fun RPG combat.

Since this is a sticky I'll just revive it for my "recommend me" thingie.
I'm on a rpg spree these days, trying every rpg I can get my hands on. The only ones that has been to my liking are Risen, Morrowind and Oblivion. And I'm looking for something along the line of those games. So a fantasy rpg, either first person or third person (preferably not a "camera fly high above the ground looking down at everything). NO party, just control one character, I've tried a couple of party based ones after I just realized I had played Oblivion to death, and they just didn't appeal to me. A good character customization is a plus.

So, any recommendations?

[edit] oh yea, and for PC preferably. maybe 360 if the game is really good.

and graphics and even gameplay come after a good story that sucks you in when it comes to rpgs for me.

im currently playing atlantica online and it's really unique and amazing..
but it has 1 main character and 8 mercenaries so you would be
controlling 9 characters.. ^_^
but if you want 1 character only try flyff and Tantra they are also
fantasy games.. pp_smiley11.gif

Can anyone recommend me a final fantasy like game on PC? I liked The Last Remnant and Resonance of Fate looks great as well (but it's on XBOX 360/PS3). So I'm really looking for a final fantasy like game on PC with nice graphics (one of the aspects of final fantasy) and good gameplay (especially combat, FF13 and Resonance of Fate blew me away).
