You cannot beat this game... If you have the time, read about the gameplay and combat mechanics; it will blow you away. Best thing is, it's slated to be released in March of 2008 (few months away). Notice the rating, as well. This is going to be a hardcore pvp MMO, with real time combat (no more timers or clickfests!).

Even teh classes are created well, with every class being able to stealth, and every class being able to engage in mounted combat (you wanna ride a horse, rhino, or mammoth?).

PvP area called the Border Kingdoms will have player made cities (aside from teh guild cities) that you can storm and use seige weapons on. There are even combat formations for players, where they do more damage and get bonuses if they remain in combat formations during a fight.

The graphics are killer, the gameplay is seriously advanced, and the content is mature... This is the wow-killer we've been waiting for. Check it out here...

Aoc is the next decent looking MMORPG tbh although It will probably be killed off by warhammer (WOW clone, yah I know warhammer had the theme first blah blah).

Hard core PvP? DAoC had it. Players can attack other player owned areas with siege? DAoC had it. Real time combat, DAoC had it. lots of classes and multiple options, DAoC had it. Wow, it looks like they are just now catching up to the real world. icon_rolleyes.gif

AoC is the next over hyped pice of shit out there, just like WoW it will get mass amounts of hype from fanboys and little 12 year olds that think raiting means something, then it will flop like a fish out of water.

And if you honestly think WAR is a WoW clone, you realy need to do your research kiddo, WAR is taking a compleat oposit turn from WoW.

The only interesting thing about it is the pvp and the combat. At first they were talking like its gonna be a quick level up so you can pvp kind of like guild wars but now they put the level cap at 80 and its gonna be the same boring ass grind like all the other mmos with raids and pve. Its no more hardcore than WoW.

I just got back into wow a little bit to play with friends, and a week later im wishing i didn't. Blizzard has made the game so easy since i last played, theres no point in even playing it anymore. It would be hard to top now and im really hoping something does, whether its warhammer or AoC.

Yeah I've made that mistake twice hehe. Wow is so n00b friendly it sickens me, especially when people brag about their accomplishments in such a simple game. Warhammer just looks way too clowny, and looking at the developer diaries I am apalled at the low level of seriousness with which they are taking on their task.

AoC has no clowny elves, no cartoon orcs, and contrary to what Dricod said (DAoC was a good game, but old; get over it), has so many features new to MMOs that it will easilty appeal to the quickly tiring wow fanbase. You HAVE to create new features to be successful. In this case, the lack of developmental distance between WAR and DAoC/WoW is just another reason NOT to switch from your familiar game and familiar community. Case in point: Street Fighter IV. For those of you who played SF3 regularly, did you know SF4 is coming out, and they are completely dropping the parry system? Parry is what makes SF3 a tournament game, and what makes it appeal to pro-gamers. This is another classic example of dumbing down a previously successful game to try and appeal to more casual gamers. Yeah, it's the new SF game, but why switch when SF3 is more rewarding?

P.S. I was looking forward to WAR until I noticed the disturbing similarities that it had with both DAoC and Wow. It just didn't seem to improve on either game's features, only merely meshing the best of them together. While that sounds good and I most likely will try the game, I cannot let myself anticipate something that makes very few strides in the way of pioneering MMO gaming.

This man speaks the truth.
Why do you think LOTRO wasnt so popular, even tough they didn't do anything realy bad with the game? WoW is the same, exept with more stuff in it! The lastest gameplay movies of AoC weren't too good.... but I have faith in Funcom, all you have to do is give em some time and they can build a great game.

One thing to all people, who just wathced movies/screenshots of War and AoC.
They don't show actual ingame-graphics in these.
I'm playing these games with max details on DX9 and they don't look as good as in the videos...

You can find the best MMORPG graphics out there in Lord of the Rings Online atm and in the near future. Well, until Aion and Guild Wars 2 will be out.

Maybe because its not optimized for the highest possible graphics yet so they don't want to allow you to use them?

parrying is not the staple of sf3/3s. it is not the main reason why 3s gained a cult following. being good at parrying doesnt mean that you are a good sf3 player. a lot of good sf3 players only need to parry fireballs and meaties in most cases. as a matter of fact, there are so many numerous things in sf3/3s that reward bad gameplay such as standing back and whiffing to gain meter as well as parrying. a fighter without parries doesn't mean the game is noobified. look at sf2/ST as an example. that game has been out for over 15 years and still has a strong competitive scene with large amounts of tourneys. does it have any parrying and alpha countering? no... does it make it a dumbed down game? hell no. ST is also far more balanced as a game than 3s. another thing i should add is that in sf3, execution for chains, cancels, and supers are far more easier to perform than in sf2. so that itself makes sf3 dumbed down a bit. as for sf4, the saving system was added in replace of the parry system. parrying was removed because players could sit in the corner and turtle all day long. it is a decent trade off since sf4 will be a more offensive game than sf3 was. the ones under the development of the new system even claim that it will offer more strategic options than the parrying system. although i'll have to reserve judgement of sf4 at release.

This week Gaute Godager, AoC game director, announced that the game's release being delayed for 8 more weeks.... again. They said they still need to polish the game so it makes a great first impression.

Man, it's like the 4th delay........ but hey, at least they're taking this game's development seriously. They learned from the AO release, that's for sure. Also, they won't be redesigning gameplay elements like they did with last summer's delay.
