I was mainly pointing out that since there are actually quotes by Reagan supporting Ron Paul in the past, he should use them a lot in his campaign. Base republicans love Reagan references. It's like crack to them.

I think both candidates did well tonight. They had the sense to quit the bickering and act like adults, and at the same time, remind us all that either one is better than anything the republicans have to offer. And anyone from both parties would be better than Bush, period. So all in all, I'm pretty optimistic about the coming election.

Even Guliani would never shut up about how he "always wanted to be like Reagan", which I thought was surprising given that he actually took the time out from talking about 9/11 to say it.

If they put Reagan's corpse up on the stage and just let it lie there and rot they would declare him the winner in a debate.

thats not at all the way it was said. i never said black people were more likely to riot, and i said around here (toledo) the nightyly news is covered with black people committing crimes. thats a fact, not some racial biggotry. it's fact.

i only said that to give you an example of crime rates around here, in relation to the north toledo riots. that was what we were talking about right? and i said that people in the ghetto are more likely to riot.

Well that's the same as in my city...but all of the white people moved out to the suburbs so there's no white people to commit crimes in the city

Where I live they don't really talk about the suburbs even when there are crimes. A house burned down across my street due to some kids burning it down because the owner fired them that day...you'd think that would be on the news, but it wasn't.

The news has 30 mins to an hour to cram as much as they can in. I don't even watch the local news anymore because of how bias it is.

Wait, so you spend all this time complaining about the unreliability of the media, and now you're ready to use them as your only source on crime statistics? Lol, you can at least tell me the news gave you any sort of statistics to start with. But no, all you got is how many times you can recall that they but a black man's face on the screen. The fact that blacks 'commit more crimes' than other races has more to do with the level of poverty in which much more blacks are are stuck in than any other race. Blacks represent 30% of the people arrested, compared to 70% whites. But 49% of the people in prison are black compared to 48% white. Meaning they don't have the money and resources to get out of it like the middle to upper class whites do. And yes, believe it or not white people in the mid-upper classes do commit crimes...

Did you know that blacks are convicted for killing whites at a rate of about 5 times that of whites killing blacks? That doesn't mean they killed more white people than whites have killed black people; it means that once arrested whites have 5 times less of a chance of getting convicted than a black man who commits the same crime.

Interesting side note I found while looking up these numbers in my criminology books: almost 94% of inmates in state or federal prison are male. This shows a non-racial form of bias in the court system. In spouse murder cases 81% of men are convicted when they kill their wives (average prison term 16.5 years), 57% of women are convicted for killing their husbands (average prison term 6 years). Men also receive sentences an average of 3 times longer for committing the same crime as a female.

In other words, going by the statistics, racial and gender bias do exist in the justice system.

you're doing the same thing people do when they assume more black people commit crimes because they are black. Just the other extreme. It's just as easy for me to say that Black people are in that level of poverty because they are black, and then the root cause of the crime still comes down to them being black.

You are partially right...many of the blacks are in poverty because they are black. How long have blacks have fair treatment for getting high paying jobs and making craploads of money like the rest of us capitalists? Less than 50 years. How long have whites had? It's going to take time for blacks to catch up to the whites economically for that reason alone.

In other words, they aren't necessarily in poverty because they are black, but more because of the way they were treated for being black.
