Hey everyone.
An update for people who are just now jumping in: Obama just won in the democratic primary, McCain won on the republican side several months ago. Looks like the general election is on...
The poll above I made several months ago, before the primaries started. Considering the number of candidates that have since dropped out/ no longer have a chance of winning, I may edit the poll soon to reflect the current race more accurately.

President
I actually have no idea who is better. It'd be cool if Clinton or Obama won though.

This is exactly what has been going on through the entire thread, and it's not the first time either.
You come to us for advice..you just spell out what you want to get, and then ask us if it is okay, and we have to explain why it isn't. That's the world upside down.. If you would just say 'hey guys, I have an X amount of money, what should I buy?' Then this would be over in 2-3 posts, not 2-3 pages.

Not so much. You do realise she was the one who led the charge against GTA, and violent video games. That was the moment I said i would never vote for her.
That, and like .. think about it. She is saying the same shit as the republicans are saying as far as war goes. Look, I'm all for taking the fight to the T's, but its time to go home from Iraq, and focus on the United States of America.
It is for this reason, I would vote for Ron Paul, or Barak Obama. It is time for change. And both of these candidates represent change. I believe in a balance. Let the right wingers have control for a while, then the left wingers. Its yin yang.

I fully support Obama simply for Net Neutrality. He's the only candidate I've heard speak about it, and he is fully for it. He also wants to digitize all government records and whatever is public will be in a searchable database similar to Google. While that may not seem so important now, imagine if there is something that you need to find records on or learn about, it's right there. And Net Neutrality... Don't even get me started on that. Any ISP that wants to shape my traffic (like the one I unfortunately have right now, Comcast) deserves to be shutdown or fined.

Ron Paul would be an excellent President - which is why I voted "either" in your final poll question. Anyone who answers otherwise is voting based on party, which is a very stupid decision
The only Democratic candidate that I feel is capable of leading this country well is Obama. Hill-dog is unpredictable, and judging from her behavior as first lady, cannot be trusted. Not to mention all the mishaps with her fund-raising.
None of the Republican candidates scare me more than Romney - fortunately, as a Mormon, he probably wont get the evangelical vote. Thank god for that.
The only candidate on both sides who I feel represents what it means to be just an "American guy" is Huckabee. He's one guy I'd be content with in the oval office.
If none of these gentlemen get their party's nomination - and im 99% sure that we'll end up Guliani vs Hillary - then I have no reservations voting third party for whoever I see fit.

I'm not paying attention to the race until the actual canidates are decided.
the shittiest part of any US election is the fucking primaries!
but I guess for right now I like:
McCain and Obama
if I'd choose between the 2, it'd be Obama

McCain would be a good president since we're in a time of war and he knows a bit more about what war is, but I still vote for Obama even on this issue. We need to stop bringing in the military leaders and faces from the past and instead bring in fresh blood. He's going to appoint a cabinet for a reason: to advise him. But either way, if all we do is bring in the people who have been trained to follow the same procedures through and through, we're not going to get anything done differently, and I think it is indeed time for change.

Hilary is a good example of the bad kind of liberal...*shudders*
I'm going for Obama so far. Ron Paul probably wouldn't be terrible if the republicans had to win but something about him just weirds me out.
McCain is a two faced POS, and Huckabee is just plain loony.

Ugh, this whole Ron Paul/Libertarian movement is such a fad. So many of the hipster kids who are supporting Ron Paul don't even know wtf he is talking about. Gold Standard? Axing the Fed? Yeah, I'm sure all of his supporters know exactly what he means...
The shift toward a free market and isolationism is a knee-jerk reaction to frustration with the government. Sure, we're all pissed, but libertarians go too far. It's an over-reaction, simple as that. Happy mediums are what work, folks.
Oh well, Paul won't win. He's not really anything to worry about because of his lack of support in the traditional conservative bastions.

On the Democratic side, I'd pick Obama. Though Joe Biden is a very close second. Both have good ideas, and both are very likable.
Hillary is very polarizing, and has a lot of views I don't like. I really don't know how she can be such an opposite to her husband in terms of my opinion.
John Edwards is too phony. The States needs a leader right now, not a politician.
On the Republican side, the only decent candidate is Ron Paul as far as I'm concerned. No bullshit, just some good ideas.
Giuliani would be a disaster for foreign affairs.
Romney is a sketchy bastard (and no, it has nothing to do with his religion. I honestly don't know why him being a Mormon is even a big deal).
Huckaby could be decent, but just seems weak somehow.
And the less said about Fred Thompson, the better.
My top 3 presidential picks would be Obama, Biden, and Paul.
Then again, I'm Canadian, so I can't vote in the US election anyway. I have to decide whether I'll be voting for my party of choice with a weak leader (I'm sorry, Stephane Dion seems like a nice guy, but I don't see him as PM material), or... well there aren't really any other decent choices.
