Well sir, judging from what you said there, I'd have to recomend either Counter-Strike: Source if you're North American or foreign, and Counter-Strike 1.6 if you're in Europe/Asia

I would most likely say Painkiller or Quake 4.

However, there's bad sides to both - i heard Painkiller's community is quite inactive, and it's tournaments are few and far between - however, this could be wrong and you should probably look to hear from a better source, rather than my memory! Quake 4 is, apparently, just not as good as Quake 3; but still, it's the natural progression of what you've been doing, with the UT and Quake background.

Other than that ... not sure - but i think those are the main two you should look into.

Perhaps look into UT3 if a pro mod comes out that allows you to get more fps, since that's almost certainly (read:certainly) where the competition is going to be if and when you decide to play competitively.

I'd say buy Orange box. Portal is about 3 hours long and very replayable (possible multiplayer in the future according to a Valve interview I saw on /.) also it has advanced maps, custom maps, and challenge mode. Episode 2 is about 5 hours of gameplay, with Team Fortress 2 being a fun as hell multiplayer game. And if you didn't have HL2/HL2EP1 then you're looking at even more single player gameplay Orange box, no question.

UT3, imo. Tons of online modes, fast-paced, and I believe 32-player online. Since your system specs are relatively high, you should be pretty well off with UT3.
