Yeah, but with that logic women usually kill like a couple hundred once per month max, while most guys kill millions several times per week ;P

Not quite icon_wink.gif Women usually only release one egg per month icon_razz.gif We don't keep producing eggs like sperm is produced, we're born with a set number and that's it.

My opinion on the morning after pill is the same as my opinion on abortion. I support it, but it's not for me and I wouldn't use it. Why wouldn't I use it? I figure if it's meant to happen, then it's how it is. Given, I am on the normal contraceptive pill and I'm not the one night stand kind of person, so the chances of me actually having to go and get the morning after pill is really slim.

I do agree with it being available over the counter here in Australia. I think that if women had to go to the doctor for a prescription then there would be less people inclined to go and take it, and therefore would be more unwanted pregnancies. I do however think that some people shouldn't rely on it too much. I do have a family friend who enjoyed her one night stands, didn't use protection, kept taking the morning after pill, got warned by her pharmacist that one day it wouldn't work because her body was becoming used to it and now she's the mother to a baby girl to a guy she had a one night stand with.

So yeah summing up, my opinion: Good, but not for me and should be used as back up, not as a contraceptive icon_razz.gif

That family friend of yours is increadably irresponsible! how hard is it to get on the pill? Once again I am like you MQ I dont want them to ban the morning after pill because it does prevent a lot of unwanted pregnancies, but the whole fact of taking it seems wrong to me, If my gf had to use it I wouldnt like it one bit.

Its basically like if your friend turned into a zombie and he was about to eat you but you knew you had to shoot him in the head and kill him in order to save yourself. It feels wrong, but it has to be done!

Seriously though if your a one night stand girl get on the pill its not hard and its safe. Or at least make him wear a condom!

Your family friend might be irresponsible, but more importantly she's a complete idiot. No offense. And also, it's kinda weird that once she did get pregnant, she didn't abort, despite having no problem with starving her possibly fertilized eggs everytime she had sex...

Either way, about the ovulation, I tried doing some research, I saw that women have about 1 million eggs when they are born, and have 300,000 when they reach puberty, so I just took a guess ;P

But tbh you gotta wonder, considering there's septuplets in the world ;P

Exactly. I have been on the pill for 3 1/2 years, all I had to do is walk into my doctor's office, get a prescription and buy it. It's not even that expensive. For the generic brand of the type I take, it costs me just under $32 for 3 months supply. According to various websites I checked, Postinor-2 (the morning after pill) costs between $17-$30. Now what would you rather pay? Have complete piece of mind for just a couple bucks more than running to the pharmacy the next morning. Having said that though, yes the pill isn't for everyone. Some people are lazy or work odd hours and find it hard to take the pill at the same time everyday (to work effectively most if not all contraceptive pills must be taken around the same time everyday). But carry a condom, get an IUD, get the contraceptive injections... I'm not saying contraception is entirely up to the female, but for god's sake if they guy isn't going to do anything about it, take it into your hands to not get pregnant! Sure accidents happen, such as broken condoms... But still, if you are going to have a one night stand, why the hell wouldn't you make the guy wear a condom, you don't know what diseases he might have!

Yes. Our family friend was and still is a complete idiot. Everyone said it, and everyone still says it. I feel sorry for her daughter.

And with the ovulation, generally it is one egg that is released. Non-identical multiple births do occur when more than one egg is released, although it is rare. Identical multiple births are when the egg splits after fertilisation... So yeah we do kill off more than one a month sometimes but never near hundreds icon_razz.gif Or actually I don't kill them off once a month because I don't release mine since I'm on the pill icon_razz.gif

Not to mention the fact that not using primary contraception such as a condom or femdom would put her at a large risk from STIs, particually if they were one night stands.

In my opinion, the morning after pill should always be used if you are unsure of the success of primary contraception, or have not used it at all, and are unwanting of a pregnacy.
Ethically, I stand that while the pill is removing the chance of a potential life from forming, I do not belive that the fertilised egg, as this is all it is at the start, has a 'soul', preference, feelings or any form of consciousness, until much later in the pregnancy, a date which is particually hazy, and depends of personal beliefs about the development of the brain and central nervous system.
So for me, the abortion of the essential clump of cells, or potential life, should lie soly in the preference of the woman, her situation may not call for a pregnancy, such as going through schooling, or the thought of a child may be painful, particually if the child would be from an undesirable farther.
The pill should always be avaliable for women to get discreetly and privately, just as any other form of contraception, as not to let any social stigma or hatred fall on the user, as there are many people in this world who would go out of there way to make this persons life a misery.

well, id like to say that getting together with someone is a serious matter, shouldnt be done on a whim and you should be protecting yourself. if the condom package is worn it means your condom is old and will no doubt break, and if you plan to really go to work, then doubling up is probably a better idea cause condoms are flimsy. if you use anything other than water soluable lubes itll weaken a condom. for you ladies out there, really i hope if you got pregnant during an encounter with someone you care and respect, id hope you would let them know and not just deny them any input on the matter. that being said, this world of ours has never been a fair or just one, and sadly there are circumstances such as rape, incest and poor judgement where this pill has a place. ye, make it available over the counter. ye, give a woman her right to choose. but ladies plz if you care about that guy, let him know. now you can stone me.

The morning after pill is super neat for when you get yourself into a "sticky situation." Like for example if a condom breaks or something...

Sometimes things happen that you don't plan on. The morning after pill is a backup plan used in case your first line of defence fails, it shouldn't be relied upon entirely. They are quite expensive and the side effects are not much fun for the poor girl either.
What came first, the spamming or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids reading thousands, literally thousands of posts about anime, 4chan, flaming, goatse and emos. Did I make terrible posts because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I made terrible posts?

And they stop working after a while, when your body gets used to them.

Yes, if a woman got raped then I could see the seriousness of the situation and the woman should definantly take the pill.

Some forms of medication (antibiotics for example) can negate the effects of the birth control pill.

So very true. Every time you go on antibiotics, the pharmacist will ask if you're on the pill and will warn you of the effects. I've been on antibiotics a couple of times with my some of my ex's and I always made sure they wore a condom during those times.

As the saying goes, prevention is better than a cure. Condoms, diaphragms, the contraceptive pill... All cheaper with less side effects than the morning after pill! Sex is fun, so if you want to do it, then do it. Just be careful.

im not a fan of the birth control pill, anything in your system for that long cant be all good, the body gets used to certain chemicals being artificially introduced and therefore produces less organically, and youve already caused an imbalance. the fact that doctors caution against using the male version makes me suspicious of what women take. most women go on the pill to regulate their period and cause it makes their boobs bigger, p[ersonally im a fan of all breasts so long as their owner is has a bomb personality. condoms are great, but honestly i think planned parenthood should be manditory for age 14+, which it isnt in the states. bleh i cant say that restricting sexual activity is the answer lol plz lets not, but maybe more respect fopr the act? sometimes mistakes yield great results =)

im pro choice, not religious, but i believe both ppl have a say, is that wrong?
