Watercooling is always 1337. But we have a sticky for this!

QUOTE (Weiman @ Apr 5 2009, 01:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This is exactly what has been going on through the entire thread, and it's not the first time either.
You come to us for advice..you just spell out what you want to get, and then ask us if it is okay, and we have to explain why it isn't. That's the world upside down.. If you would just say 'hey guys, I have an X amount of money, what should I buy?' Then this would be over in 2-3 posts, not 2-3 pages.

Every time someone goes against Weiman's sig I feel like they should be bludgeoned for a few minutes in the head to feel the headache I feel when I realize someone really IS that dense.

Still waiting on the ATI 5000 HD series, so I am rocking the same rig I have had for about two years now:
AM2 Abit KN9 SLI Mobo
3 GB of Patriot DDR2 800MHz
300GB Seagate HDD
Athlon X2 5200 @ 2.7GHz
XFX Nvidia 8800 GS Alpha Dog Edition in SLI
Antec Nine Hundred Case
600 Watt SLI PSU (can't remember the brand)
LG 19 inch Flatron 16:10 monitor @ 10,000:1 dynamic contrast
Works great for DX9 @ 1440x900 resolution, so I'm ok with it.

Pretty solid rig you have there. But I thought you needed two cards to run SLI..

I'm hoping that's a 19" widescreen your using, otherwise I cringe inside.

My almost 2 year old rig can run Crysis max settings at 1440x900, your point?
Also strange res for a 19 inch wide.. If it isn't wide screen even more strange res for it.

Yep, it is dual 8800 GSs in SLI. I bought both of them at the same time. I was comparing the specs of the two cards in SLI to the GTX260 MaxCore 216 and I beat its specs in nearly every area except I have a little less SPUs than it does. For most games, I just offload one of them to PhysX acceleration.QUOTE (Gold Leader @ May 30 2009, 01:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Nice setup
I'd also wait for NVIDIA's GT300 cards these would crush the RV870 with easy since they are going to get 512Bit GDDR5 memory interface and 2.4 Billion Transistors with 512 SPU's The GPU's will be processed @ 40nm, these are just rough specs but I advise to wait for both cards to arrive then choose the fastest of the two companies
Understandable, and good advice for sure. As a personal preference thing though, I am going full AMD/ATI no matter what for my next build.
