yea... but it's sold that many and is going to continue to sell. it's not just about how much it sells in the first 3-4 months of it's lifetime.

The majority of the sales happen in the first month, mainstream game sales are pretty much a negative ln curve. Even if Halo 3 outpaces the 6.5 million mark, you have to admit for something to sell 6.5 million copies it has to be impressive.

I'm not saying it's unimpressive. I'm just saying that big name games won't have the sales they'd have on other consoles.

The X-Box 360 and the Nintendo Wii are the best gaming consoles, period.

A gaming console has one purpose: to play games. As gamers, we need a medium to deliver some fucking kick ass games. No console does that better than the X-Box 360. Fact: The 360 sells more software each month than the other two consoles combined. Fact: This generation the 360 has have more AAA tittles than Sony and Nintendo's systems, With the world's best console online service, X-Box Live, the 360 is the perfect gaming console for the core gamer. It also ships with everything you need at a low affordable price, without gimping the system. If you choose to turn your gaming console into some sort of media center, the HD-DVD attachment is OPTIONAL

The Nintendo Wii (and its little brother the DS) have been setting records left right and center. While some (mostly bitter fanboys/13 year old boys) people argue that Nintendo "caters" to "kiddie" gamers, there is no disputing that Nintendo's Wii has DOMINATED the casual gaming market. They have sold the most consoles, and for the most part, is the only console that mothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and your mailman is interested in. For instance, at Christmas time during the family gathering, there was no way you could stick 20 people from ages 2-85 in one room watching someone play Halo or Warhawk. However, have your dad play your uncle at Wii Golf: you've instantly got a heartwarming christmas moment and at least 5 people asking where to buy a Wii. On the other hand, with games like Zelda TP, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Smash Bros Brawl, Nintnedo's console has many endearing qualities for the same hardcore gamers that choose to play X-Box.

To use the term lightly, the Playstation 3 has launched with a "limited" game selection. With no exclusive 90+ titles, it has had to rely on franchises that have no release date or exclusive guarantee. The system's first year was shaky, falling to dead last in sales and launching 4 SKU's, gimping their console's gaming capabilities to sell it at a low price. Sony has forced the blu-ray standard down the throats of its consumers, boosting its price to the top of the generation. The Playstation 3 is being marketed as a 'media center' to cover up the fact that when it comes to gaming, this console is the worst.

Hell yeah!

My grandmas (one is 82 and one 75) both played Wii bowling this week, it was hilarious, they took a bit of time to get into the way of doing it but once they'd gotten used to it, they were pretty good, one even beat my dad (which I took the time to mock him for).

Other than the Habbo Hotel application, what about PSN's Home is so special?

I just kind of laugh at you at this point. You can't really tell me why Live is better than PSN, but instead just bash PSN since you can't come up with anything concrete. All you do is say "PS3 sux" and you never say why the other console is better.
Habbo Hotel? Are you daft, boy?
How about meeting other PS3 users from all over the world:

Playing free arcade games in the lobby rooms:

Sharing videos/songs with your friends through the virtual TV/Stereos.
Meeting up with and following friends into games.
Actually looking at the trophies you've won in your Trophy Room:

And a lot more.

Now, in correspondence to your previous post in this thread.. it's obvious how skewed your opinion is. If "dead last" means "The PS3 has been selling almost the same amount of consoles worldwide that the 360 has consistently", than hey, you'd totally be right. A lot of people don't check sales figures, but the PS3 has been selling the same amount, and often times more consoles than the 360 sold in it's first year.
And I find it kind of silly that you go on about the 360 being the ultimate gaming machine, when half the time it can't even play games. Having a console with a 40% failure rate, when the average failure rate of electronic devices is LESS THAN ONE PERCENT, and allowing this to go on for TWO STRAIGHT YEARS is completely unacceptable.
I also find it rather silly that the Elite, while costing more than the PS3, doesn't even have as many features as the lowest end PS3. I STILL have to pay $80 to use wireless internet. I'd still have to pay $150 for the HDDVD add-on which would still only work for movies and not games. The add-on is also ridiculously overpriced considering you can get an standalone HDDVD player for $90.
As for gimping a console with so many SKU's? Lol. It's hilarious you can say that with a straight face about the PS3 but not the 360. Awesome how two of the 360's SKU's don't have HDDs, and the HDDs themselves are ridiculously overpriced, while each SKU of the PS3 comes standard with an HDD and can be used to cache games.
To be honest, I'm kind of enjoying them forcing the Bluray standard down my throat, because apparently it's better for developers. Epic said, while developing the PS3 version of UT3, that Bluray gave them a lot of leg room and if they were to make another UT3 (Like the Director's Edition of UT2K4 that had all sorts of new content), they'd jampack the Bluray full of stuff, just because they can. Infinity Ward said that they had their best developers on the PS3 version, and that they had to cut content from the game because of the space limitations of DVD9. Id' Software's next game, Rage, will span multiple DVDs on all platforms, save the PS3 which will only use one Bluray.Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal gear Solid, has actually been pressing Sony to release the Dual Layer Bluray, because he wants to have more content in his games. That's 50 gigs. That's about 6 DVD9's. So when the guys who made Unreal Tournament 3, Call of Duty 4, Quake/Doom series, and Metal Gear Solid find Bluray to be the superior format, I'm somewhat inclined to believe them.
For a console still in it's first year, I'd say it's doing a lot better than the 360 did in the same time frame.
Can't wait for your rebuttle. Hopefully it's a little more informative than "Oh yeah? Well.. PS3 SUX!".

it's been selling near the same amount (still less except for july, april, a week in november, and like the last week in december). The problem? IT'S STILL A YEAR BEHIND. that is a huge factor. You can't ignore the early release date of the 360 and think the PS3 will sell the same or better because of it. You think the PS2 was a better piece of hardware than any of the other consoles?

that was on the first run consoles. And it really says something when people are more willing to put up with their console breaking 5 times than buying a PS3.

it has a harddrive 150% the size of the largest PS3 hd, and costs $50 less. It also has more good games.

the difference, They never changed the actual console. PS3 console SKUs have different hardware for each box. When you buy a 360, you are only an addon away from any other SKU.

see. the problem is that blu-ray isn't being utilized standard yet. We're already 3 years into this gen. Blu-Ray won't be pushing industry standard for another 2 or so years. By that time, we'll already be lining up our next consoles. When thsoe come out, we'll have all sorts of new storage media that we'll use. It's just not useful NOW.

Wait, you think Home is great because you can walk around in a lobby, talk to each other and stare at a trophy box? Boy that sure sounds like the opposite of what i want to do when I'm trying to game.

I think I'll stick with XBL for my GAMING. I can hop into a lobby instantly, talk with the people before the match, and click on them to view their achievements....I don't need a time-wasting Second Life mini-game that will just slow down my gaming. "Meeting up with and following friends into games". Yeah, gamers totally need that. Thats much better than instantly hopping into games with your friends with a click of the button.

If you honestly think having your avatar walk over to an arcade machine and staring at trophy boxes will redeem the PS3's last place standing in the console wars, then you are simply clutching at straws my friend. Clutching. At. Straws. You can't use the 360's head-start as an excuse any more, the Wii caught up and surpassed them, and they are actually making a profit on consoles sold....its been a year, and outside of Japan's insignificant numbers, the world has proven they prefer the 360 to the PS3 for their console gaming experience.

P.S. The screenshot you listed is misleading, any online Habbo Hotel style service for free will look like this:

There is nothing you can say to make the PS3 sound any better than it is. It's the worst console period. The only exclusives it has that are worth getting are Uncharted, Warhawk and R&C Future. That's it! Thw Wii and 360 have many more amazing titles than that/ The Wii has Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Super Paper Mario, Rayman Raving Rabbids, WarioWare and Wii Sports and the 360 has Gears of War, Viva Pinata, Mass Effect, Ace Combat 6, Eternal Sonata, Bioshock, Crackdown, Overlord and Halo 3, just to name the ones I can remember off the top of my head. Game consoles are about one thing and one thing only, gaming. And if your console doesn't gave a decent library of hard-hitting titles, then you have a crappy console. Why don't you go Home and think about that. (get it, Home...I chuckled...)

You're honestly going to use Rayman Raving Rabbids and Viva Pinata as good Wii and 360 games?
To be honest, it's quite useless arguing with you people, as it's obvious a lot of you are rather biased towards the 360 and against the PS3, and spread rampant misinformation about the latter just to make your console look better.
But hey, put a person in their place enough times and eventually they learn their lesson.

There are actually quite a few great games to play on the PS3 right now. Resistance: Fall of Man, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, Folklore, Uncharted, Warhawk, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Eye of Judgment, Unreal Tournament 3, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, . And those are just exclusives. If we throw in games like Call of Duty 4, Oblivion, Skate., Tim Clancy games, etc, the PS3 is doing phenomenally better than the 360 has done in it's first year in terms of quality titles.

I see a lot of you singing the praises of the Wii, yet bashing the PS3 for "not being about the games" when I mention the PS3. You do know why the Wii is selling, right? Because people who don't really play games are buying it. Somebody who's more interested in making Mii's than playing SHOOTAN GAEMS might be a little more inclined to buy a console with something similar. I lol pretty hard if anybody honestly thinks the Wii has more "hardcore" games than the PS3.

I've asked people in this thread to explain to me what makes Live better than PSN. All you've done is avoided the question and continued to bash the PS3.
I, on the other hand, have proven that punch for punch, Live and PSN are very much the same, and in 08, most of Live's features will be surpassed, and I'll still not have paid a cent for any of it. I might understand if you guys got something extra with your games, or the DLC was cheaper or something, but you don't, and it isn't. Our games play just as good as your games (Hell, DMC4 and Burnout Paradise are actually a lot better on PS3 according to several sources), and we get the same DLC as you do for the same price.

I really don't understand this mentality of 360 holding games back being a good thing. I've given you examples of developers, and not exclusive developers, people like Epic, Infinity Ward, Konami, and Id, all showing that a larger format IS required. I'm sure that switching out a few DVD's isn't a big deal for some of you, but when Metal Gear Solid would span across 6 DVD9's on any other console, and FPS games now need multiple DVDs, I think there is a bit of a problem. I might understand if we were talking about RPGs, but FPS? Come on. It's some of the most backwards thinking I've ever seen to support an obviously aging format when developers themselves are showing an obvious need for more space.

Really, it's not even just the Bluray. The 360 lacks a lot of things that developers are finding more use for. No HHD standard with two SKUs, which means that developers cannot use the HDD for installing/caching/streaming games. No HDDVD standard, and even if you buy the add-on, it doesn't apply to games. No motion sensing. Well, Microsoft said they'll be releasing an add-on for it in the future. Oh wow. Another overpriced add-on? Can't wait. No DivX certification. Now, you may be thinking "But the 360 supports DivX!". You would be right, but there is a difference between DivX support and DivX certification. DivX certification means that developers will actually be able to use DivX encoding in their games using the 2.0 version of the PS3 software development kit. Only one 360 SKU supports HDMI, and even then it's not even HDMI 1.3.

Sure, the PS3 came in last it's first year, but if you can honestly look at the PS3's line-up of games for 08/09 and tell me it's not holyfuck amazing, you need to get your head checked.

Metal Gear Solid 4
Metal Gear Online
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIII Versus
Haze
Disgaea 3
Gradius V
God of War 3
Star Ocean 4
White Knight Chronicles
Killzone 2
Imabikosou (Sega's new horror series)
Tekken 6
Naruto PS3
WarDevil Enigma
Valkyrie of the Battlefield: Gallian Chronicles
Steambot Chronicles 2
SOCOM: Confrontation
SingStar
Shin Megami Tensai: Persona 4
Hot Shots Golf 5
Little Big Planet
Lord of Vermillion
Eternal Sonata (With extra content/characters/storylines)
L.A. Noire (RockStar's new series)
InFamous (By the Sly Cooper team)
Gran Turismo 5
The Getaway 3
Yakuza 3: Kenzan!
Eight Days
Afrika
The Agency

And these are just exclusives. Throw in games like Devil May Cry 4 (Better on PS3), Burnout Paradise (Also better on PS3), Grand Theft Auto 4, or any other multiplatform game you can mention, and the amount of great games coming out for the PS3 trumps pretty much every other console. I mean, can you honestly tell me what must plays are coming out on the 360 in 08/09? Halo Wars? A few no-name shooters? Infinite Undiscovery? (Because Blue Dragon was awesome amirite?)

But hey, all of it boils down to personal opinion, right? I prefer the PS3 and Wii over the 360. Other people prefer the 360 and Wii over the PS3. I just when people are as misinformed about something as most of the people in this thread are, I should try to correct them.

I don't speak giant wall of text.

UT3 is exclusive?

Console wise anyhow.
I figure if people can list Bioshock, Gears of War, Overlord, and a bunch of other PC games on their 360 lists I can at least list UT3.

You don't seem very fluent in Intelligent Replyanese either.
But hey, thanks for proving my point and completely avoiding everything I've said, instead just going on another one of your "LOL PS3 SUX" sprees instead of actually coming up with a rebuttal.

I think we've responded to "giant copy pasta of PS3's wikipedia page of 2008-2011 releases" and "home beats xbl because we have 3D AVatars and I can't afford 13 cents per day for a superior service" and "bluray owns because it holds more information" quite enough, thanks.. =/

Please tell me where you can even FIND the 360/Wii's list of 08/09 games? Oh, thats right, THERE ISN'T SUCH A LIST. Typically (and by typically I mean in the last 10 years), games are announced at the E3 of the previous year. This builds hype for the games during the year they are released. For some reason, Sony decided not to show up for 2007, and their sales have shown that. Nintendo has dominated hardware sales this year, while the 360 has dominated Software sales.

Did you ever wonder why this is the first time a console has ever released all its exclusives up to 3 years in advance? (FF13, MGS, Killzone 2 etc all announced BEFORE the system came out). Never before in history has a console launched with such a shitty first year of games that they've had to give their gamers something to look forward to simply to sell systems. Lets be honest. Who had heard of wonderful games like Crysis, Bioshock, Mass Effect, (i could go on), etc etc, before last years E3? Microsoft and NIntendo will push their lineups at E3 and for a second year, the collective gaming public will lawl at your last place console.

Heres a tidbit: X-Box Live has more subscribers than the PS3 has sold consles.

This post is all kinds of hilarious.
Once more you say Live is a superior service, yet fail to point out exactly how it is. And regardless of how you twist my words, I didn't say "bluray owns because it holds more information", but instead said something alone the lines of "Bluray owns because Infinity Ward, Epic, Konami, and others have said so". Nice try though.

You know, it's hilarious that you continue to go on about Sony's "poor sales" when you apparently have no idea what you're talking about. Month to month the sales numbers are very similar. Of course the 360 has sold more, it has a whole year head start. Oddly enough, even with a monopoly in it's first year, the PS3 has sold more consoles in it's first year than the 360 did. Yeah. That certainly seems like failure to me.
