Can someone tell me how to make Norton AV make exceptions for programs, like how Windows firewall asks to unblock something? It prompts me to permit a program for some, but not for others. I'm finding Norton hard to use.

Ditch norton TBH, it sucks ballz compared to freeware antivirus alternatives.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

For example, AVG.
But really, antivirus programs are unneeded if you don't do anything stupid.

You should really look into getting nod32 it's the fastest scanner out there, plus it's the most updated.

That can all depend, for someone who is using norton I would suggest keep an antivirus, but like some say there are some very good ones out there that are free, The reason I say it depends is because for someone who may have XP sp1 trust me they are going to get some nice trojans.

This is true too, I have used nod32 for awhile and I say it runs very very good.

XP SP1? Jeez, there is no excuse not to keep your OS up to date.
You dont need antivirus if you use common sense, but keeping your windows uptodate is very important.

Sup Goth. Didn't know you browsed the HW&SW section.
I used to own Norton (until I was slapped silly @ HW&SW section
)
To solve your problem, uninstall Norton! Seriously, it's really not worth it. I could hardly play a single game of something without getting tabbed out every three seconds for Norton telling me that Xfire, Firefox, and practically the fucking Windows OS itself is a virus. Norton really doesn't do anything but take your money and piss you off in the process!
Now I use AVG.

Yeah I know, but you will be surprised at how many people don't do things like update their OS or click stupid links.
