I'm playing FF7 again, this time I'm planning on getting all of the ultimate weapons, materia, enemy skills, Side-Quests, all of that happy stuff. Anywho, I had forgotten how completely amazing that game was.
How many times have you played FF7 through?

FFVII is probably my favourite of the series.

Probably around 5-6 times. Great game, but not the best in the series. VI holds that spot.

I usually don't play games I don't like, so I won't be playing this game again. That and I sold my copy last year for 45 bucks, best thing I have ever done with that game.

PLayed it a few times through. my favorite things to do were fight emerald and ruby weapon. They were fun.
And I too think this game is Amazing. But I'm not sure if its my favorite game or not in the series.

I 've never played through that game.
I really envy the fun i've seen people have with the FF games, but i really don't like them. Its not that i have a problem with RPGs (i love morrowind and even pokemon for the gameboy) but i just can't get into them. After 20 minutes i get bored out of my mind and can't bring myself to keep playing. I don't know, it could be that i've just never played far into the FF games.
BUT i am glad to see that other people have enjoyed them far more than i have.

Are you also hoping Aries doesn't die this time?
I wanted to get FF7 once but they only had a used version at EB Games and disk one was obviously FUBAR so I got the unopened FF8 instead and during disk 2, I got stuck (cause I needed to level up more to beat a boss but couldn't because I was trapped in a town) and stopped playing.

To many times to remember. I last played the game in June and I'm just about ready to fight Emerald weapon. I have everything except KOTRT at level 5. I should probably do it sometime.

I've just played it through once because I'm in the process of playing through all my FF games that I've neglected. I just beat FFVI and it definitely holds my number #1 spot out of RPGs I've played. I'll never forget the awesomeness of Kefka! FFVII is a close second.
I've started FFVIII for the first time and so far the only characters I respect/like are Squall and Quistis. I'm only at Galbadia Garden, though (It's the area you go to after the TV station madness at Timber). The fact that enemies level up as you do is pretty stupid because there's no incentive for you to level up, ever. I usually like leveling up, too, but in this game, I've been escaping from about half my battles. Or, I just draw spells like crazy out of the enemy (My party all has 100 Fires, Blizzards, Thunders and Cures and 50+ of a fair bit of other magic) and then escape. It's really helped their stats via Junctioning and improved their attack power.
After FFVIII, I'm thinking of playing FFIX and then the Chrono series, perhaps. I had a Chrono Trigger file on my computer years ago, but then we had to get our computer wiped so I lost all the time I put into it.

Ah, it's not that expensive. So long as you don't mind getting a "Greatest Hits" version, you can find them for about $20 on ebay.

O.o maybe when they start off, but near when the auction ends they sky rocket... I've never seen one go for less than $50...

Makes me wish I held onto my copy when I bought it for like 5 bucks when I was 10.

How many times have you played FF7 through?
How many times have you played FF7 through?
i've finished FF7 start to finish about 30 times, i know thats a bit obsessive but i love the game.
i have a memory card thats dedicated to ff7, on that there are save games with abusive ammounts of materia. one save file i have has 6 master copies of red, yellow, and green, and multiple extra copies of ultima and knights just to play with.
the key is finding the doubler and tripler weapons asap and finding a good spot for materia growth. (like in the final cave where you can kill the magic pots and the orange dots for sick ammounts of materia)
once you have your tripplers for cloud and cid, and someone with a good doubler (and w-item materia) head for the final cave and bulk up on materia. you can master out even the big summons quickly.
as far as getting the gold chocobo quickly you are better off raising them and breeding them than trying to beat emerald without knights (if you are talking to the calm traveler). even with the underwater materia it's just about impossible without at least one copy of knights so just keep breeding and resetting the PS untill you get the one's you need.
sometimes it happens right away, sometimes it takes a few days.
but there's nothing more annoying than trying to beat emerald and he keeps doing that fuckin mega lazer attack when he gets low dealing 9999 to the whole party. man i hate that.
the most annoying thing in the game IMO is trying to win the materia in the chocobo racing. breeding them and racing them up to s rank is no big deal, but trying to win all the cool materia from there will drive you nuts (counter especially).
save yourself the headache and speed the game dialog all the way up. this way the damn storyline (especially when cloud is recalling nebielhiem) will be far less agonising. also, save a lot. it saves headaches many times.
also don't forget to use steal on all the bosses and mini bosses you come across (like the turks and the weapons) lots of good stuff to steal almost everytime you bump into them.
sorry to go off on a tangent here but yeah, i love this game and hopefully i've helped you a bit with at least one thing you might not have known.

you should really do yourself the service of playing this game through once. it's like a standard pre-requisite to calling yourself a gamer. the story line is cool and it's just one of thoes things that every gamer should do at least once. (like beating the first super mario on NES, bond on 64, ect...)
