it's worth buying if you want to play WoW but don't want to spend money beyond the price of the disk because Guild Wars has no monthly fee. If you have no standards, Runescape should suffice. I personally don't recommend playing any MMOs though.

Someone mind explaining what makes the PvP better than other games out there?
The only reason I ask is because last Thursday a co-worker came up to me and said he started playing WoW. A few months back all he did was bash WoW, saying GW was much better PvP based, it is free, etc.. Then he told me he quit GW because the PvP was horrible and you only get 8 skills you can use.
Plus don't you just click on a player and mash buttons? I played for a day along time ago on a friend's account and all I did was click on an enemy player and then hit my offensive buttons. Didn't seem like it took much skill, I didn't even get to control where I ran when I was attaking the other player, it just auto-followed the guy.
So someone explain to me how it has a better pvp system than the other games out there

the pvp would be better if there were no battlegrounds. i prefer open battles.
i'm with you when you say you don't know why people say the PvP is so good.. is alright just nothing great (or fun)

ive played a few MMOs and most MMOs pvp is like this- Tanks blindly run up to the enemy, fully buffed and spam every power attacks. mages stay away and spam spells.
Im a Mersmer in GW and tbh its much harder... Mersmer is prob a debuffer/disabler. most spells i use generally require me actually looking at my enemies and what he/she is doing then counter that action with my spell. when someone goes to cast a spell i select him/her and cancel it with a cancelling spell, damaging him/her or debuffing them at the same time. when i see a tank i cast hexes which fks their health if they go to melee attack. being mermser i have to kinda wait and see what my enemy team is doing before i can bring them down to their knees by denying their strengths. it requires more alertness i think. much harder than spamming spells.
also having only 8 skills to use at one time isnt bad. its more strategic. that doesnt mean you only are able to learn 8 moves- you learn tonnes. you just cant use all the spells you know in one match. that means you think about what kind of builds you want to use to face a enemy.
auto follow eh? donno what the hell you were doing. you can use the wasd keys to move around as well as q and e to strife. using mouse works too... you can actually dodge some attacks while strifing.

If you haven't already bought it then yes it is a good game definitely worth getting. Its a more skill based MMO that rewards you more on skill than time spent on the game, and it also has a pretty good storyline. (nothing epic but its still enjoyable). But the low level cap will annoy many (i still wish they would make it a bit higher but oh well)

Guild War's a completely different than most MMORPGS. It's not as much about leveling up, getting equips etc but more of making a perfect combination of classes for you and PvE/PvPing with other people. I don't play GW though, not my type of game

Seriously, this is a pretty deep question. The WoW vs GW arguments never end, but they're totally different games. IMO GW has many things that are better than WoW (I play both), but in terms of endgame stuff WoW definately wins with ease. But GW is graphically impressive, a good laugh and has an easy learning curve. I've grown to love it - each time an expansion comes out I play it to death, complete it and then go back to WoW until the next one comes out. Only one Expansion left and that's GW:EN then we have to wait for GW2 which looks good so far (with other playable races, for one!).
But anyway, if you're bored I'd recommend it because it will be worth every penny spent.

The reason GW is so good is that it DOES rely on a players skill to stay on that fine line of doing damage to your enemy, keeping your energy up, and keeping alive. Your skills have to compliment one another or you will fail horribly.
I recommend it. GW2 is going to be a real rival to WoW no doubt

Yeah if GW2 does manage to combine GW(uniqueness) with more traditional MMOs that have more immersive worlds the outcome should be more accessible and also brilliant. :hopes & prays:

Tiny system requirements, 1100 hours of gameplay for me cost me £60. That's value.
