Nevermore, I think photos 2, 6, 9 & 12 are brilliant.. 2 & 12 I'd use as wallpapers

In fact, if you have a hi-res version of 12 could you post a link to it? That'd be swell.

1600 x 1071 do it for you?

I forgot to mention that I used two different cameras for my pictures. One was the Canon Powershot A640 (which I don't have anymore) , and the other my Canon Digital EOS Rebel XT. I can't wait to have a zoom lens for it icon_sad.gif right now all I have it the wide angle that it came with.

So. I have a real shitty camera. But I know how to use it.
I'm hoping to buy a new camera real soon.

Awesome link, thanks! Yes it's 10mp over 6mp but also the D40X has a one stop lower ISO which I think is quite important. Also you get slightly more fps on the continuous drive, but meh.. All-in-all the D40X is the one available on eBuyer for a good price (the price of a D40 in most high street stores) icon_smile.gif

Thanks again,

-den icon_cool.gif

I prefer the D50 myself, a bit more professional, better specs and quality (a D40 is pretty much a downgraded D50 to reduce the cost), the screen is smaller though. If you're getting multiple extra lenses then maybe it's worth it. Provided they're still available.

This is exactly what has been going on through the entire thread, and it's not the first time either.
You come to us for advice..you just spell out what you want to get, and then ask us if it is okay, and we have to explain why it isn't. That's the world upside down.. If you would just say 'hey guys, I have an X amount of money, what should I buy?' Then this would be over in 2-3 posts, not 2-3 pages.

Every time someone goes against Weiman's sig I feel like they should be bludgeoned for a few minutes in the head to feel the headache I feel when I realize someone really IS that dense.

D50>D40. Anyone who disagrees is an idiot. D40 can only AF on EF-S lenses. Even though all Modern Day lenses are EF-S, Older Lenses ftw.

*cracks fingers*

OK lets see here...

Richard:

1. Not bad, but the Whiskers are a bit much, lol. Plus a bit of a distracting background.

2-5: None of them are sharp. No Sharpness = No Goodness.

6: Very Nice. Great Colors, But the Concrete thing is a bit distracting.

MightyMichelle:

1: Colors are good, But you tilted the camera a bit. Fix that and crop out some of the right side and your good. But looks like a million other shots I've seen, tbh.

2. Again, looks like a million other shots I've seen.

3. Nothing special. You took a night shot of nothing interesting. Colors are good though.

4. Nothx. You can see reflection and such off the glass, plus theres a logo down there, Just not a good picture.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious on that one.

Older lenses suck a whole bunch. I will take any modern lense over any old lense any day.

Well tbh, Canon seems to focus on Pros. Nikon seems to focus on Ams.

Pick your side.

No, I'm not.

Look at the Pro camera's Nikon Has. Like the D2X or whatever, and the D200.

Thats it.

Canon has the 5D, 20D, 30D and like 4 thousand different versions of the 1D.

Also, watch the Commercials that they have. Canon's are about Pro's shooting Football. Nikon's are about giving random people Cameras, and checking out there Amateur images.

No, I'm not saying Nikon can't take pro images with that last sentence. I'm just saying those photographers sucked, lol.

I wasnt talking about how many different high end models canon have or what ads they use to target people

Im talking about the fact that you think you have to pick a side.

Nowadays photography is nothing but OGM I HAVE A CANON SO IM PRO or OH I HAVE A NIKON IM MORE PRO THAN YOU OMG

Who cares about the camera, its the photographer behind the camera.

I took some AWESOME photos on a $300 P&S compact camera, you dont see me running around OLYMPUS COMPACTS ARE THE BESTEST

You need skills before you need a 'professional' camera.

Well I'm talking what there geared tword, your taking it to a whole different level.

Again, if you look at there Ads, Nikon is "Everyone's Camera", and Canon is "The Camera of the Pro's"

Even though tbh, Am's taking Good Meaningful Pictures > Pro's taking Sports pictures for loads of cash.

I just read a chapter in a book about a guy that shot a road trip with just his 1.5mpx camera phone. Its stuff like that that really throws you back into the days of composition and "shooting what looks cool to me"

Yeah, I mean The camera doesn't matter, I'll agree with that.

Same as with Graphics Cards, as long as you have the minimum, who cares?

But everyone wants a better camera. Why? Who knows.

Oh, have you guys heard of the guy that shoots all his pictures with Disposables? I forget his name though.
