I'm just getting into metal, and I wonder if people can help me find stuff that matches my tastes:

I'm not a big fan of vocals of any kind. I don't mind some, but the less vocals the better. I really prefer it when the music is interesting on its own without just supporting the vocals.

I'm interested in skillful/interesting guitar riffs, lots of drums, generally just interesting and unpredictable instrumental work. Stemage's work on Metroid Metal is exactly the stuff I LOVE, for example metroid metal.

The song that got me looking into metal was Tenacious D's "The Metal". I could listen to that looping all day long. If there is anything else in that style of sound (in terms of the instrumental work more than the vocals) I would love to know about it. What inspired that song, for example?

Stuff I generally like:
Anvil
Megadeth
Mastodon
Dethklok
Stemage
Tenacious D
Pelican

So anyone know anything (bands, albums) you think I'd like?

drone and shoegaze (spacepop, whatever the fuck, it's sky/water music): I liek it. You might.

If anyone's got other suggestions with music in a similar genre I'd be happy to hear them.

Anyone know some good stuff related to drums alone/as general focus of the music? Like tribal drumming, stuff that's meditative and focused.

Hm, does anyone still check this thread? Here's hoping...

I need some music that's similar in style to this, having the whole kind of rock/blues feel that everything sans the chorus has, with similar vocal style resembling Jorn's part in the second part. Does anything like that exist?
